"Do You Really Wanna Be That Big"
i kno this should go in the "post ur own article" forum but i wanted a place with higher traffic ;-) ......here's my lil tru life anecdote wwhich happened a couple weeks ago
"do you really wanna be that big?" ...That was the question given to me to ponder for a brief moment as i stood there purchasing a venti coffee at the barnes and noble starbucks.
The cashier was a young woman about my age , early 20's , average body neither attractive nor unattractive, the kind of person you can easily forget about forever. I was completely unaware that this harmless little question would stay with me forever and have such a profound effect on my life.
So.."do you really wanna be that big?" i repeated to myself , i looked down at the cover of the muscular development i was about to read , and with a clear vision of what i really wanted , a true revelation had happened instantly within me...I answered... "YES , yes i do". This tiny little phrase resonated deep inside me reigniting the drive , the completely uninhibited ambition with which i started training yrs ago that has been lost.
The girl not having the slightest clue what is going on in my mind then reciprocates "eww thats too big , you're perfect now" Im now visibly exstatic , my smile is ear to ear and i couldnt hide my teeth to save my life. Not because she'd paid me this compliment but because she had even further re-affirmed in me my drive to SUCCEED , to do what it takes no matter what , TO NOT FORGET MY DREAMS that we so easily forget as we get older......"NO WAY" i said , firmly "i want to be bigger , BETTER.. i know i can" then i winked at her and said thanks, she thought it was for the compliment she gave me...but she'll never know the conviction she gave that seemingly normal day at barnes and noble starbucks , hardly the place for bodybuilding motivation.
anyone else with good stories of motivation in unexpected and unusual places???

Seriously - I don't need any motivation except to say that I look 10 times better at nearly 40 years of age than I did when I was 20 and 30 years old - that for me is motivation

Any time I get that question, I just come back with "When someone is playing a lot of tennis, do you ask them a silly question like, 'do you really want to be as good as Roger Federer?' "
Usually shuts them up.
If a girl says "You look perfect already" I just respond with "How do you like how you look?" She tells me how she wishes her hair looked better, that she could get rid of a zit, that she could lose a few pounds and I say "You look perfect already"
She gets it.
Also, if anyone says "You look good, don't get any bigger" I just say, "People tell me that all the time, and then they see me a year later and 10 pounds heavier and say "wow, you look even better"

That's ok, you're entitled to your own wrong opinion.

I agree with John's comments on the threadstarter. Your physique definitely stands out. Great lines for such a young age. Truly impressive. Keep up the excellent work.

Gabe, I read this from you earlier and it sparked a similar story that happened to me.
I had to go to Orange County to support my girl friend at a dance competetion. She had a break, so we headed to a 711, where I picked up a water and then picked up the latest edition of FLEX. I went up to purchase it, and the lady at the counter said, "ohhh... so in 5 years, this is what you're going to look like, huh?"
I replied with, "Maybe with a few minor adjustments... but roughly, you may."
She looked at me with a puzzled look and then hit a front double bicep pose and said, "How do I match up?" I flashed a smile, and said, "You may beable to get on the cover of Muscle and Fitness..." I don't think she got it, as she wasn't into fitness (if she was, her look was very decieving) and I hit a double bicep pose. Then she laughed and said, "You're almost there..." and said, "Just gotta keep pumpin that irooooonnnnn..." in my signature Arnold voice.
My girl friend later on sat down with me and we looked through it and we went through a "what do you think if I get this big?" and whatever. She settled that I was perfect the way I was to which I looked at her like she was crazy and said, "No... not yet. Not by a long shot."
-----------------------
And now today, nearly a year later... I can honestly say, I'm not where I want to be. No... not yet. Not by a long shot.

Well i will name off sports that you can no longer watch, because in your opinion they are " cheating "
Football
Basketball
Bodybuilding - If you think it's a sport, It's a lifestyle for me ;/
Powerlifting - Same as above
Baseball
Rugby
Soccer
Golf - lol yep, now some may use AAS, but many use HGH
Ok now you can no longer watch the sports above, well i guess if you want to watch a bunch of cheaters.
There are drugs in all sports - Get over it and do your best at what you do.
