if you have had sharp pains for a week, and its getting worse, it is def not a minor injury. Do not ask for medical advice on the internet, even if they are a doctor or whatever, because to really gather what is wrong, it has to be looked at in person. Plus, you didn't even mention how you injured it.

Just go to a doctor, get it checked out by a medical professional. They spend all that money and years in college for a reason, use it

I would help if you told us how you hurt yourself. Knowing the mechanism of injury is important.

Sounds like a torn rotator cuff or however its spelled. I had the same thing happen to my left shoulder and it took over a month to stop hurting badly. Only surgery can fix it but you can live with it if you dont want to stop lifting for 3+ months. Ive been living with it for years and it still acts up sometimes, especially on shoulder workout days. But the pain isnt as bad now and goes away usually a day after workouts.

Anytime the pain is sharp, see a doc. Sharp pain is usually associated with tendonitus or tearing of the muscle. Sorry.

The only way to be sure is to go see a physio. Id put money on it being either a shoulder impingement or a torn RTC. To be sure, go to a physio.
