Mary Seacole

Also a nurse during Florence Nightingales time, but is generally forgotten by history. She was brave enough to go to the battlefields during the Crimean war and rescue wounded soldiers dying in the field. She believed that laughter, good food and a lively atmosphere were important parts in treatment, and so her hospital she set up was a small slice of heaven for wounded soldiers in a foreign hell. Women, alcohol and drugs were all available for soldiers to have a good time and escape from the horrors of war

She was a Jamaican born Brit and travelled to Crimea with her own money and did this out of the goodness of her own heart, she received no help from the government to do any of what she did and was criticised by Florence Nightingale for her nursing methods, since Nightingale was a much stricter nurse that didn't really allow fun.

Mother Teresa was a nobody a woman who only brought attention to the poor , why is that significant ? She cant make the sick healthy nor can she work in an emergency room. Some people make her out to be a saint as if she has magical powers. That she is not. Hey I have an idea why dont I travel to poverty stricken countries and talk to these people and tell them everythings going to be alright and that God is going to take care of you. Even though it is because of the belief in God that most of the problems in Africa and other poor nations have occurred.

Just because she has no money to give them makes all of her efforts worthless? I don't see many other people dedicating their lives soley to trying to ease the suffering of people who have absolutely nothing. It's easy for rich people who have tons of money to just throw some cash that they will never miss at some poor people to make them feel good about themselves. Most of those people are only doing it for the tax break and good p r anyway.

The most valuable possesion any person has is their own life. When you're willing to give that to others with nothing in return it's the most anyone can ever do.
