Just curious whats the average time most of you spend lifting. I'm pretty new and I don't know if I'm overdoing it or not. I lift on most days 2 hours. Except on legs I do usually 1 hour and half.

after like 45 mins your body is more tired unless you've been doing ****, but more importantly your natural testosterone levels drop which isn't good. But really you should cut your workouts down..i used to workout like 1 1/2 every time until i shortened my rest times to about 45 secs and i've learned to squeeze out every rep for what it's worth and i go to failure in alot of my sets now..i can get a good workout in like 20-30 mins from doing that

Roughly fifty minutes or so three times a week. I try and cut down on the rest periods whenever I can, although I do take about two minutes between sets of squats and deadlifts.

I spend a minimum or 2 hours, most often its 2.5 hours. Last night I cant damn close to 3 hours. Im running a fullbody routine with 24 - 30 max effort sets to failure. I take 2 to 5 minutes rest between sets, not counting setup time.

Askign this question is a little like taking a poll to decide what size shoe you should wear. The average size foot of those responding to your question will have no relation to the size of your foot.

If you're natural you should only spend 45-75min per workout. If your intensity is high enough, you won't be able to lift much after that. I usually spend an 45-1hr hitting a big muscle with compound lifts, and the next 30 min doing accessory movements/smaller muscles.

The length of your workout doesn't really have as much as importance as the intensity with which you workout. What you do need to keep in mind though is that your body is going to run out of energy (glycogen) or you're going to overheat, at which point your really just moving the weights around, not actually breaking down muscle fibers. You can combat this (and should) through sports drinks or in-workout recovery type drinks, but really once you pass the level of exhaustion, the energy you're burning is being taken from the muscles themselves (catabolization) and your going backwords in terms of muscle mass.
Having worked with some pro football guys, they'll do 2-3 very high intensity low volume workouts over the course of a day. 45 min max. The argument is that after that 45 min, you lose your focus and can't maintain that high level of intensity. But it all depends on your goals, Krav Maga guy probably wants a little more endurance so he trains for that stress, etc.
