    Casein or milk ??

I've read a bit on the subject of Casein. I'm taking casein right now and some people say that drinking milk before going to bed will give me the same results ?? Thanks

I used to mix casein with milk before going to bed, but it was tough to get it blended.

I switched to Nitro Core 24, which has Casein (amongst other things) in it. It's freakin' delicious and mixes up pretty well with milk.

Milk has a fair amount of protein in it, but certainly not the equivalent to any powder that I'm aware of.

A tall glass of milk will have about 16g protein, 12g being casein, and 4g being whey.

So, if one scoop of casein powder has about 24g protein, that would be like drinking 2 tall glases of milk. 3 if you count the milk you are mixing it with.

So it really comes down do how much protein do you want, and how many glasses of milk can you drink all at once. Plus the extra fat/calories/etc.

Casein + Milk.... Milk protein is 80% Casein but also accompanied by lactose sugar at a 3:2 ratio

Well, a 16oz glass makes the numbers prettier, but same idea with other glasses.

I dont want to chug 3 12oz glasses either.

There is alot of sugar in milk. Much, if not all, of this usgar is removed when producing caseinate protein powder. FO this reason I feel the powder is better suited pre-bed; assuming you have the money to spend. Another option is cottage cheese.

It depends how your body reacts to lactose. If you it gives you gas than use the casein.

You wont need to drink as much liquid if you take the casein... trying to get 30g of protein (bout the amount i take before bed) from milk seems awful just because you would need to chug sooo much of it.

Well, the protein in Milk is made up of 80% Casein and about 20% whey.
SO, it seems pretty pointless to buy Casein protein powder. 1 or 2 cups of milk at night should be enough to give your muscles a steady flux of protein through the night(well most of it), and make sure to keep your muscles satisfied with a fast digesting whey protein shake in the mornin'!
