Hello,
I am looking for advice on how to breath when doing heavy RDL. I know on regular DL, I only breathe when the bar is on the ground between reps, but for RDL, the bar doesn't hit the ground in between reps, so when am I supposed to breathe?
I read that with regular DL, I don't want to exhale during the movement because I would lose abdominal tension which could allow the weight to compress my back possibly leading to an injury. So for the same reason I don't really want to exhale when doing heavy RDL, but I don't really have a choice since I have to breath at some point...
How do you deal with breathing when doing heavy RDL?

Thanks, that's what I have been doing. I just wasn't sure if it was right though, because the top of the RDL is the same point where on a regular DL I have read it is unsafe to exhale because it allows the weight to compress the spine.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?
It's not an issue if the weight is light, but if I want to RDL very heavy, I wonder if there is any risk..

I do RDLs somewhat heavy in comparison to my body weight (for 6-8 rep sets).

This is something I never even thought about......
I just breathe at the top. I've never had an issue with it. But YMMV.
