Hells yeah. Anyone with any type of disability GTFIH! Idea came from a thread and figured might as well roll with it. If ya have any type of disability, state what it is and join.

If ya have any ideas on anything pertaining to this thread, lay 'em out. Also, if ya wanna change the thread name say what ya think would be better and I can change it when we come to a conclusion.

Anyway, my disability is that I am a complete T-10 paraplegic with very mild brain damage(not noticeable but there) and severe chronic back pain.

Just for some clarification, a disability has to be:

a physical or mental handicap, esp. one that prevents a person from living a full, normal life or from holding a gainful job or anything that disables or puts one at a disadvantage

Hmm, well...not sure I am technically disabled..lol...but the VA thinks so.

I've been suffering with severe RA for 2 years now. I've been latched to a cane for the last 15 months. It definitely killed my lifting for a while. My joint damage has been under control for the last month with chemo and DMARD's so hopefully the progression has been slowed. Not on disability, graduated with a Ph.D in Microbiology from PSU and starting med school next week. Anyway...that's my story. Thanks for starting this thread lunatic! Reps.

Have you been deaf since birth? I got to learn some sign language in college from a friend who was deaf, but i didn't pick up much. Do you rely on sign or lip reading more?

I can do that. There are some people on the MISC who think it's their job to **** with me about what's wrong with me, hence the reason I am not posting it outloud. I would do anything to be normal, let's put it that way.

You gonna have surgery to fix it? What's your prognosis? I also have terrible, constant pain in my lower back. It's been progressively getting worse for over 3 years and is now to the point that I'm about to have another risky procedure done to hopefully correct/help it. I asked my doctor if he could just paralyze me above where the pain occurs and that's when he mentioned a Spinal Cord Stimulator. If it works, it changes the pain sensation from a pain to either a tingling or massaging sensation, which would be SO beneficial to me. I've had trigger point injections, epidurals, nerve ablations, nerve blocks, facet injections, nerve removal, countless pain medications, and all kinds of other ****. If this Stimulation thing doesn't work I'm seriously going to ask my doctor to just paralyze me higher up. I'd probably go from a T-10 to T-5 paraplegic or so, but if it gets rid of the pain it will DEFINITELY be worth it.

Hell, my pain is more disabling than my paralysis is. I enjoy life, but I'd enjoy it so much more if it was manageable.

I know your condition, you're suffering from vaginitis, right, brah?

I understand what you're saying. I don't think we're proud of our disabilities, but we're not ashamed of them, at least I'm not. I'm glad mine happened; not the pain, the paralysis. I'ma much better man today than I was 4 years ago.

I had to quit lifting until I get my pain relieved, so I know the feeling, bro. I'm currently on disability, but it's not much. It's enough for me to get by while in school, which is fine by me. It's awesome you got all those credentials with the pain. I've suffered with my grades because I have trouble studying. The pain is so bad that I can't concentrate, but that's life.

Got a lazy eye, I know it isn't a hardcore disability but it's holding me back from becoming a police officer. My eye isn't even that bad as far as appearance is concerned. The only time someone can really notice it is if I am wasted. My problem lies with my stereo vision...if I were to go to a movie that had the "3D glasses" I wouldn't notice anything popping off the screen. Also I apparently I have ZERO depth perception but I don't buy that because I have played and succeeded in multiple sports. I drive a car with no problems and I have 20/20 vision in both eyes. My only hope lies with Vision Therapy...apparently this MAY be able to restore SOME stereo vision...at least enough to pass police testing.

This may seem like nothing compared to some of the disabilities people have in this thread but let me tell you it took a long time for me to be comfortable with myself....
