    Pushups vs Bench press

    How come i get a better pump doing a measly 40 body weight pushups, and can feel my chest actually expanding, than i do compared to when i do a heavy set of bench press to failure?
    Progress:
    Deadlift: 150 --> 275 3x6
    Squat: 135 --> 225 3x5
    Bench: 95 --> 145 3x5
    - Incline: 80 --> 125 4x5
    BB row: 85--> 140 5x5
    OH Press: 65 --> 105 5x5

    Probably due to time under working.

    40 press ups take longer that 5 reps of bench, so more time for blood to flood to chest, so more blood gets there, so it feels bigger.

    what other said, endurance makes u feel spent more then a burst of 5-8 reps, go get 10 lb dumbbells and bench to failure after you're done you'll fell like ur chest got hit by a car, but u still wont get stronger just like pushups dont help ur strength that much i mean no where near as much as benching near ur max for reps

    maybe you're not lowering the bar enough to fully work the muscles while benching? whereas your push ups are done properly as its easier? just a guess
