WOW, this movie was amazing. Very original, gritty, leaves you thinking.

The story was fleshed out perfectly, the FX was very good for such a low budget, the star did a great job...he's really good.

I recommend it to everyone that loves a good movie. Its the best movie i've seen this year. The Hurt Locker is second though....but this was sooo original.

Hollywood need to look at this and start making original stuff....good story, character driven, no robot balls (i'm looking at you transformers 2)

I give it a 9.9/10

People will complain. I went with a friend and he said he liked it but it was slow at the beginning.....saying he wanted straight up action, not story.

The movie wasn't what I expected. The previews make it look like the tensions between the humans and aliens boil over and they engage in this massive war to destroy eachother.

Then you watch the movie and realize it's about 1 alien, his son, and a half man/half alien trying to get to the mothership. It's just not what I expected, and I thought it was a let down. It has cool special effects and good acting, but I think it could have been alot better in the second half of the movie

very well said, OP. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

a very good movie, indeed. kinda sucks we're going to have to wait 3 years for the sequel, though.

i highly recommend this movie.

It was an entertaining movie but as soon as they showed the guy's hand after the transformation began the rest of the movie was extremely predictable.

my thoughts exactly.

I went in thinking it was gonna be a massive battle, aliens revolting, breaking out, the world governments fighting to keep the situation contained within South Africa, possible survival story.

I was not expecting it to be the type of movie that it was. I didn't go into see this kind of movie. I just wanted your typical alien movie. The whole time I had trouble buying it (God those interviews were terrible and predictable). The whole time I kept expecting something to happen some kind of significant plot development but there was none...except the transformation thing. I eventually realized that there isn't enough time left in the film for there to be any actual ending...and there was none. It felt like a B movie screenplay as that is where it failed for me.

However when I look back at it it reminds me of Signs in the sense that the movie is not about what is happening right in front of you ( I liked Signs alot). But this movie's plot was far too sketchy. You can't have emotions for characters and places that are cliched cartoonic caractures.

The Alien guns were badass though. The sound wave gun that blew people back and the blue ray gun that exploded people were awesome to watch.

it was pretty good. i think it was just an average story, nothing really original or special about it....but it was directed and done very very well. my main gripe was that they didn't develop the characters very well. towards the end, i wasnt really sure who to be rooting for

Yea, tons of crappy movies this summer. So far my top movies this year have been Watchmen, Star Trek, and District 9.

Anything else has been meh or alright.

I think a big problem was the teaser trailers and previews. The scenes that were captioned during the interrogation of the alien. The interregator asked the alien something and he said something along the lines of "You won't let us leave" and "We just want to go home."

Those scenes, at least for me, made it seem like the Aliens landed, got forced in a corner, and were going to tear **** up in order to get out of there.

In my opinion the movie started out slow. I was with about 12 people for an 8pm showing and 3 of them fell asleep...

The movie was ok but not what was expected from judging the previews.

i really liked it. slow starting but they had to show some background. but the ending was nothing but action!!!! it was a great movie. i wonder if they would make a sequal. that would be badass!!!
