I was told raw almond butter was a better fat. Anyone know this for a fact?
And what is 'natty' peanut butter?

I cant say I have ever heard the fats in almond butter is better of that in peanut butter. I have heard almonds are a better nut to eat than peanuts, so maybe there is some truth to that?
And "natty" peanut butter is natural peanut butter. People just type natty instead of natural to save themselves from typing two extra letters.

Peanut butter has much more omega-6 fatty acids, which may throw off your 3:6 ratio if you're not getting enough omega-3. you get a lot of omega-6 because of what we feed our live stock
will it really matter? prob not. i just use one till i get sick of it then switch to the other. PB is like half the price of almond butter where i get it thoughLast edited by Obnoxious123; 08-16-2009 at 10:48 PM.

Yes, actually in a nutritional profile, it is. I take it all the time, raw. "Better" though is arguable because it depends what you're using it for. For bodybuilding, I believe SOME, though minimal amounts of saturated fats are necesssary to some extent. Though nutritionally, these are demonized for obvious LDL increasing reasons. Anyone who knows a lick of **** about nutrition however, knows that some, be it minomal, LDLs are necessary for fat distribution aswell as assistance in making testosterone since such hormones are made from lipids. Personally, I like the taste of PB better, but I only get the organic and expensively clean PB considering the insect mashing/aflatoxin properties inherent with processed PB on a mass scale. Mmmm insects... However; I take raw almond butter with half my meals because it seems to give me a superman feel when I take it with my daily dose of DAA. And a serious test increase is what I feel fron it. Almond butter raw is still high in calories though slightly lower than PB, but where PB has about a quarter saturated fats or a little less, almond butter has practically none and a MONSTER dose of monounsaturated fats which are always the best for you if your goal is not so much fat gain and thus always better for those especially when NOT working out or right before. So it depends what its for when we say "better", but on a general nutritional profile, almond butter is healthier. For hard gainers, Id say PB is a big key due to the sat fats, but for us bodybuilders more concerned with LEAN muscle building, making the majority of your diet almond butter rather than PB would be smarter. Of course PB is still a very good and calorie loaded staple I personally still use alongside almond butter and raw almonds but PB moreso AFTER a good weight lifting rather than before.
As for "natty" peanut butter, I assume they mean natural peanut butter, free of bull**** refined sugars which is ALWAYS the way to go. Most non organic and mass produced PBs are **** peanut butters loaded with sugars to get your ass fat and addicted by the industries. It means cheaper additives and less PB they have to put in your product. Legal drug dealing is what it technically is. Any time you see the word "sugar" in the ingredients, dump the ****, its garbage. That means its refined and chemicalky processed sugar which only robs your body of nutrients, weakens muscle and adds rapid fat gain. Refined sugars are NOT present in nature nor are they present in peanut butter or any food for that matter naturally. They're primarily lab chemicals, including bone destroying phosphoric acids surrounding about a tenth of the once nutritious and once raw sugarcane molecule that was dried in it for commercial distribution and population control drugging.
And any you see with hydrogenated oils or partially hydrogenated oils, avoid like the ****in plague. These are trans-fats, inarguably even FAR worse than saturated fats. These will turn your abs into arnold's.....POST steroids and POST senior discount days. Unless of course you like the look of geezer muscle "soup".Last edited by A1aSToR; 10-26-2013 at 08:46 PM.

In a general sense...: Like all nuts (although peanuts are not really nuts) the fat profile is slightly different, Macros vary slightly, Almond butter is usually 2-3x the price, depending how sensitive you are peanuts are more likely to be an allergenic than almonds and thus many people choose to avoid it, and of course they taste slightly different. In reality, Id just eat what ones float your boat and mix it up once and a while, say if you have 2 servings a day, take 1 of Peanut and one of Almond.
Also "Natty" or Natural nut butters are the well more..natural less processed choice. Anything that is "no stir" will have Stabilizing hydrolyzed oils (bad) in them. Be careful if looking to buy these, many companies list things as natural, organic, raw, virgin, etc but they may really not. Simplest most basic way to check if a peanut butter is natty is to look at ingredients and if it has much more than the nut and maybe salt in it, it is not natty. Natty nut butters will need to be refrigerated after opening as well, as they don't have preservatives to makes them last for just about ever.Last edited by alexwynveen; 10-26-2013 at 09:21 PM.

Peanuts and almonds have different nutritional profiles. Neither is better.
I'm glad that has been debunked now 4 years later.
