i think farmer's walks are an underrated/underutilized exercise
i know its hard to do em in the gym but damn its a great exercise! if you're cutting it can make for a good addition to a circuit routine for cardio, if you're bulking go as heavy as u can and get some massive traps and forearms. i love it

agreed. there's a huge guy at my gym that does them with 150s and puked mid-circuit last time he did them.

Just curious, what's the difference between walking with the DB's and just standing in place (besides looking stupid)
I would suppose that idea behind it is weight shifting.
It's easier to stand there and hold something heavy when you have stable balance. On the other hand, if you try to walk with it, you might fall or tip over because you can't handle the weight. While you "step" you are exercising because you are trying to handle the weight while you are not "stable"
Like benching can be separated into many parts, when you go down, and you can't get it up, etc.

This for the most part.
A lot of core strength is utilized for the walking part. If the weights are heavy, it takes a lot of stability/balance to walk with them even if it doesn't seem that way. That's all the muscles in the stomach, lower back, hips, etc that are doing the workload. It's a great exercise. It's also really good for grip strength.
well, there's a lot of difference, but if u dont understand the difference through common sense i'm probably not gonna be able to explain it to ya

Hey guys. Oh, big gulps huh? All right! Well, see ya later.
for some reason i dont see these being responsible for having huge traps....i don't know. i'll try them though
why on earth not?! all that weight is just hanging there bouncin around with your traps takin the brunt of the load. getcha a pair of 100lb+ DB's and strap into em and go till u cant go anymore for a couple of sets and see how your traps feel the next day

I think I might start doing these on Shoulder/Trap day... we have those things they use to carry instead of having to use DBs at my gym... and only one guy uses them, he's a douche who grunts really loud.

have you ever done farmers walk...not the drop the weights down and its done..im talking about doing it for laps...once you drop em, pick em up again and again...that's the exhausting part
i love both BB and DB walkin lunges and do them both as a part of my leg routine but u cant really compare them to farmers walks...i mean i guess u could but theyre for completely different body parts. for that matter squats and deads are also more taxing

Haven't you ever carried in a ****load of groceries before? Burns real good. I actually have done these not knowing what they were for that reason - felt the burn carrying **** and thought it may be a worthwhile exercise.
