How long does a car battery last if you accidently leave on your headlights?

Just got my civic si on wednesday and I have had two events where I had a dead battery.

-The morning after I bought the car, I was sitting in the driveway and I plugged in my laptop adapter and within 10 seconds the battery died. I figured the battery mustive been low from someone messing with the radio/lights or something.
-Last night I accidently left my lights on when I ran into a store to buy something fast. Exactly 27 minutes later (thanks to the parking meter) I tried to start the car and the battery was dead.

The car is a 2007 Civic Si and it's the factory battery that came with the car. I left my headlights on in my garage on purpose and it pretty much takes exactly 30 minutes for the battery to die out.

Is the battery dying or is that normal? My dad said it's normal and maybe it's a little old. I don't know though. I plugged in my laptop for 10 seconds (it barely had time to get to the windows logo before the battery died).

Headlights use a lot of power. So yeah, that would do it.

Someone told me they left their headlights on all night and their car still started. I'm sure brightness and the setting had a lot to do with it, but does anyone know if 30 minutes is normal?

I do not think 30 minutes is normal, sounds way too little. The car started with the lights on for 3 hours before, so yours is definitely either old or low-capacity or something..

Defenitely give that battery a full proper charge before you drive it. If problem persists get that battery checked, most decent automotive stores that sell batterys should be able to test it for free.

It was fully charged both times.

I have a tester and a charger. I charge it overnight and then test it before I go.

could be a number of things. my first bet would be to look into a new battery. ill assume the alternator is fine if you can drive it no problem. sounds like you just got a weak battery. either that or maybe your alternator isnt pumping that battery the way it should.

My dad came to jump start the car with a battery. Once the car got running it was fine. Right after we got home I left the headlights on one more time and it lasted like 20 something minutes. I think the alternator is doing its job but the battery is dying since it's a ****ty Honda brand battery that is like 3 years old.

I left the lights on in my truck one day while I was at work...they were on for about 8 hours, and it would have been longer, but ironically the only reason I knew was because I went out to jump start a co-workers car because her battery was dead, and noticed that they were on...I hopped in and the truck fired right up...so yeah I would invest in a battery because 30 minutes is not long at all...or check your battery terminals for corrosion.
