    Shoulder Surgery Recovery

I'm having arthroscopic surgery this Monday on my right shoulder due to a torn labrum from baseball. I've read a few websites, ranging from medical to nutritional, that suggest such supplements as BCAAs, Glucosamine, and Fish Oil to help in the recovery process. I'll be in a sling for a month and a half and start rehab in mid to late September. Does anyone have any knowledge of how these supplements may help or any other supplements to look into? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just went through this exact procedure in June. I took both Glucosamine and fish oil through out the rehab and well before the surgery as well as high protein and high fat diet. My rehab went very well and I was back to normal much sooner then expected.

There is not much you can take to speed up the process, nature will run it's course.
The hardest part of the entire thing is a decent diet especially being inactive and in a lot of pain for much of the recovery.
    Good luck with the surgery.

Best of luck to you in your recovery I have a minor labral tear in my right shoulder and Animal Flex has made a HUGE difference in my recovery. It contains glucosamine, chondroiten, and a whole host of great joint support ingredients. Definitely give it a shot.

I've had incredible and consistent recovery success from muscle/ligament/tendon tears, pulls, strains and injuries with a homeopathic remedy called "arnica montana" (subligual). I highly recommend it and swear by it. Only costs about $7 for a week or two's supply, taken 3-4 times a day under the tongue.

Stop the fish oil now, it thins the blood and thats not something you want during surgery. You can re-commence usage the day after.

As for keeping size and enhancing recovery, keep your calories controlled so you don't chub-up, but ensure protein intake is high. BCAAs is a good idea (i've been using leucine added to meals to try and conserve as much muscle as possible myself after surgery).
