knees make weird sound
My knees have always made a weird sound when i bend down, climb stairs etc. they make like a tearing sound and it freaks me out but they didn't hurt. Since i started doing weighted squats it seem like they have gotten worse and that nite of leg days my knees hurt pretty bad. My boyfriends always gets mad at me and says that i will end up with bad knees if i keep it up. Should i just go to the doctor or what should i do?
thanks ladies!!

I'd say if the pain is pretty bad, then go. Otherwise, a lot of people here take Glucosamine and Chondroitin. I just started it, and i've notice a difference. Check it out, it could really help you.

You should hear mine, it sounds like someone is stepping on a whole box rice crispies. It sounds worse when I'm climbing stairs.
It doesn't hurt so I ignore it.

Chicka, my knees aren't even the worst of the whole bunch. Everyone's knee's pop, grate make some kind of sound.
We could hold a "Who's knee's are the worst sounding comp," lol.
It does sound pretty gross.
OP do you take joint supps?

In bodywork/massage therapy class we call it "crepitus" and usually it's just the sounds knees (and other joints) make normally. They could just need more lubrication- Glucosamine and Chondroitin help out. I heard unsaturated fats in the diet do as well.

It could be wear and tear of your knee cartilage... mine are the same... I also take Glucosamine and Chondroitin for them and that helps but I have damaged my knees after years of sport. It isn't a "normal" sound if they sound like rice crispies being crunched.. that is wear and tear.
You can strengthen your leg muscles to ensure they are switching on to stablise the knee cap.
