Not really, you can choose to have a meal plan or not, it's basically built into your tuition if you choose to have one. But no, it's not like you have to pay out of pocket every time you eat.

oh yes, 8 days till my crazy bulk. when school finally starts, i get to eat Umass' award winning dining hall food, they have pretty much any kind of food you want. ridiculously strong bulk awaiting me
