Fruit and Veggies?

How do fruits and vegetables fit into keto. Most have Carbs, but I've seen them included in a few "keto" or "low carb" recipes.

Are they just counted with in the <50g carbs / day or do can you eat them like a ZERO carb food?

Thanks.

Save the fruit for your carb-up but you can pretty much eat a lot of veggies. 4 cups of spinach is about 6 grams of carbs. It really takes a lot of veggies to get close to 30 grams.

Fruits are generally quite Sugary, so they are usually a no-go for Keto. This includes Tomatoes (yes they're a Fruit not a Vegetable).

Leafy Vegetables tend to have negligible carbs (or calories!) and are extremely nutrient dense. The carbs they do have tend to be Fiber, which is good for Keto and health in general. Starchy vegetables, like Potatoes, are very bad for Keto.

Most leafy, green or salad veg can be eaten as free food, the amount of fibre is so high relative to carbs. Fruit should be avoided, though the odd handful of berries is ok. Don't worry, you won't go short. There's more vitmin C in peppers than in oranges.
