I really can't figure out why people wouldn't count the weight of the bar...you're lifting the bar as well, not just the weight, so you would count the weight of the bar.

Dude, gotta start somewhere. First time I went to the gym, I 3 repped 65 and couldn't move my chest without wincing the next day.
Gotta remember, we all start somewhere, I'm still getting started, only been doing this 3 months and I've had some decent gains. Add 5 Ibs on each workout, once you reach failure drop 10 Ibs on the bar and go again, adding 5 Ibs for every workout.Last edited by RMcDonagh; 08-10-2009 at 08:14 AM.

A bar doesn't always weigh 45 lbs, that's only if it's an olympic bar which is a lot thicker and longer than a standard bar. Just sayin' cause I know when I started benching my bar only weighed 20.
