My meds are not HELPING!!
Okay, my doctor has me on this medication that makes you gain weight. Or, atleast most people. I do everything right, eat clean, do my cardio, do my weights, mix it up,etc. I feel that I am doing ALL this work and I can't get to where I want to be. It is SO upsetting. Of course I love the burn and being healthy, but I have goals that I want to achieve. I am switching medication but it is going to take awhile to get completely off of it. So in the mean time, is there anything I can do? I don't think I can up my cardio anymore. I have even done it twice a day but to no avail.
I am on Depakote if that helps. Embarrassing but had to ask. Thanks so much! =)

My cal intake usually stays around 1350. usually closer to 1500 when I do cardio twice in a day because I am ravished. My activity is high. I stay at home with two small ones, and I do cardio, 30-45 minutes about 4-5 days a week and lifting/cardio with Chalean Extreme 3 days a week. One day off, sometimes two.

Ok sorry my bad, still though you need to do more weight training. Cardio helps but weight training can either help gain or lose weight depending on your goals.
I lost all my weight on a full body routine.
You aren't eating enough either.

1. What are you eating on a typical day (write it out).
2. What do your weight's sessions look like?
3. How long have you been dieting at 1350 for?

Eating: Example. Peanut butter protein shake/with whey or 4 egg whites with 1 whole egg and some veggies like broccoli for taste.
Snack, 2 oz. of lean turkey rolled in a carb control wheat tortilla
Lunch, 4 oz chicken breast, salad/or broccoli
Snack- whey shake with 1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal mixed in. (after work out(
Dinner, 5-6 oz of lean steak or chicken or fish/ with salad usually, other times broccoli or asparagus. And 1/2 cup cooked Brown rice if any.
Snack. Protein shake or a tbls. natural peanut butter.
My weight sessions are: I am doing the Chalean extreme right now. It helps me because lifting too heavy right now is not good for me because of a spinal surgery I had a year ago, I went heavy a couple of times and it doesn't feel good afterwards. Definately nothing above my head.
Dieting for 1350 for about 2 months.

I've never heard of the workout you are following, could you break it down and give us an idea of the weight being used.
Sorry to hear about your spinal surgery. What did you have done?
In all honest, I would say you aren't eating enough.

Chalean is weight/cardio. It is a video, which makes it easy to follow. You have 3 weight cictuits in a week that focus on using the weight you can and going up if it is to easy for you. When you do arm/shoulder exercises for example, you are always doing lunges or squats along with them, it gets your heart rate up big time. Then on 2 days you have the just cardio. I always put in the extra cardio on the lifting days, biking in the morning and weights in the afternoon.
Thanks. All is well with the surgery. I had anterior cervical disc fusion. So I had two herniated discs. Still having some problems and keep going back to surgeon so I am not lifting to the intensity as I was by any means. I can still tell a difference when lifting though, like with my arms and stuff. But with the extra body fat, I am not cutting the way I want. I am at 20% body fat, I am wanting to get down to 17%.

Ok from what I understand you aren't going to a gym. You can't lift heavy because you can't put too much strain on your back.
Back injures are difficult.
I really wouldn't want to recommend you start doing more weighted exercises because of the injury and I'm not qualified to advise on this matter.

not sure if I would say the drug causes you to gain weight or not, did research on it...
people taking low doses of this drug, actually 6 people lost weight, while 0 of the peole on the placebo lost weight....so in this case it caused them to loose weight.
People taking high doses of this drug, 9 people gained weight, while 4 people taking the placebo gained weight.....so yes people gained weight, but so did the placebo, but higher.
so I would say unless your taking a extremely high dose, weight gain is not a issue, weight loss actually might be.

I am on something similar. You can not process sugar while taking this. I lost 25 pounds very quickly by switching to low carb. Antipsychotics/mood stabilizers are notorious for the havoc that wreak on blood sugar. I have done an enormous amount of research on this. I am an attorney and did a lot of research on the lawsuits filed because of some of these side effects.
Take a look at my before pics. Those were a result of medication. I talk a little about it in my profile too!
