Juice Fasting while working out

Hi everyone..

I've had some semi-serious digestive problems over the past few weeks and need to do a juice fast. Last time I did this was years ago when I wasn't working out. Now that I am I'm curious about juice fasting and its effects on muscle loss.

I did a search on the forum and read some older threads about fasting and most were about Ramadan fasting, and those that applied to my situation were full of replies from people who don't have experience with the subject.

I won't be eating ANY food, only juices to fuel my workouts and keep the glucose flowing to my brain so I can still keep up with my schedule. If you've actually fasted I'd appreciate hearing from you. Last thing this thread needs are uninformed ignorant opinions of armchair critics and others who have no idea about what fasting is about, equating it with starvation. It's not.

I used to do IF (Intermittent fasting) once every 2 weeks. I would do a 24 hour fast and go from 5 PM - 5 PM. I usually assumed that with digesting, I wasn't closing in on a fairly digested/clear belly until later night, I would work out around 11:00 AM, so basically 12+ hours of no food. I still had incredible work outs, felt fine, and I seemed to also start having better effects from eating fruits.

Brad Pilon is incredible and makes great claims how resistance training alone will keep muscle in tact during a fast. Him and Craig Ballantyne are good buds and Craig was doing a bulk/gain, and was fasting once a week just to show you'll be fine.

I would always go back to a normal meal after a fast, never binged or gorged just because I completed the fast.

Thanks for the reply. I was following an IF protocol prior to this, and really enjoyed it, fully planning to go back once I"m done with the juice fasting.

It could be 10 days, as many as 30, depending on how my stomach/digestive system feels, so I'm wondering if anyone's done any extended fasting on here?
