I used to do IF (Intermittent fasting) once every 2 weeks. I would do a 24 hour fast and go from 5 PM - 5 PM. I usually assumed that with digesting, I wasn't closing in on a fairly digested/clear belly until later night, I would work out around 11:00 AM, so basically 12+ hours of no food. I still had incredible work outs, felt fine, and I seemed to also start having better effects from eating fruits.
Brad Pilon is incredible and makes great claims how resistance training alone will keep muscle in tact during a fast. Him and Craig Ballantyne are good buds and Craig was doing a bulk/gain, and was fasting once a week just to show you'll be fine.
I would always go back to a normal meal after a fast, never binged or gorged just because I completed the fast.
