    Hemorrhoids . . .ow

So I've gone ahead and developed an external hemorrhoid. I was sitting differently at work tues and weds, due to my back being sore from deadlifts (I usually don't hurt afterwards). I'm going to assume this put some pressure on a different area of my butt. I drank coffee thursday and friday (I usually drink strictly water, supposedly caffeine can help in causing hemorrhoids). The icing on the cake, thursday night I #2d at my gym (I usually go at home before leaving if I have to go). The toilet paper there is like tissue paper and requires a pretty fair amount of scrubbing in order to get clean.

Long story short, I now have an external hemorrhoid. I've been taking warm/hot baths (two yesterday, two today) and plan on keeping that up for the next week. I picked up some vitamin A+D cream (according to research this is even better than prep-H) and witch hazel medicated wipes. Once this badboy goes away, I plan on using my Bodygroom to trim the hair back there, so dingleberries will be fewer and far in between.

I know they're fairly common, especially in women after pregnancy, and in anyone lifting heavy weight (most of us). I'm going to take a day or two off from the gym, as walking and straining is pretty painful, and I don't want to make it any worse before I leave for a business trip next week.

My question, how have you guys/girls dealt with these? Any old wives remedies? OTC medicine? When should I see a doctor?

    Thanks!

what helped me was buying a lifesaver to sit on, its weird carrying it around but its awesome to sit on. When you go to your doctor he will probably tell you to buy some stool softener and eat more fiber then tell you to go visit a G.I. specialist. The G.I. will check to make sure it's not cancer. It'll be gone in a few weeks just keep doing what your doing brah and good luck.

Yea, I drink a lot and eat a ton of fiber (veggies every meal, huge salad for lunch, whole grains only). I just shoulda seen the writing on the wall and paid attention, but I got lazy.

I was looking into those seat cushions, I'm definitely going to pick one up when I get back from my trip.

Yeah, high fibre diet with lots of fluids is the best route of action. It'll get better over time but it sure sucks when it's bothering you.
