    my life is over....deadlifting

so i had just got to the gym
loaded the bar with 335 for a set of 12
started lifting and on my 3rd rep in i felt a pull in my back and immediatly dropped the weight and screamed ****
when i stand up straight my back is fine
but wen i lean over it starts spasming and i have to find some way to stand up strate again using my arms or legs cause i cant use my back
i feel it on the right side of my back
towards the middle close to the spine
i think its part of my lat

does anyone have an idea of what i did

    no i didnt
yes, u can still do most if not all pressing movements for upper body, and i was able to do cable rows and chest suppported rows, pull ups and all that

really couldnt do much for lower body, if you have a weighted sled, that would be a great substitute for now

for your hitt work, they mean 1 sets as in 1 WORK SET, you still gotta do your warm-up sets

i bet you made a mistake and the program actually says 1 WORKING set. doing a few sets with the bar or only 1 plate each side for 12-20 reps wont do anything cuz its no where near failure.

Actually today i was talking to a guy who was a strength coach, and he told me that static stretches actual lead you to more harm. As you stretch you are warming up ur muscle but at the same time your stretching the muscle and making it weaker.. idk could be broscience but makes sense to me..

So basically you warmed up with 335 for 12 reps... thats probably why you pulled/tore your muscle.

If it's back spasms I feel ya man. I got them during soccer this past fall and **** they hurt. Like randomly out of knowhere. But you're going to want to apply A LOT of heat and ice. That will make it better. Is it swollen at all?

    LISTEN TO ME NOW.

I've had that injury several times, did not take it seriously and I got ruptures of the enitire Lat muscle, now mine are practically not visible at all, strong though.

Anyway, REST, STRETCH (when it feels good again), go see a chiropractor (spelling?) before starting to train your back again! I started training when it felt good and a month later I got the same injury again, so, go see a chiropracor when you think its fully healed. The thing with me was that my lat muscle was okay, but my bones and stuff in my spine were twisted, therefore I got a rupture the next time I worked my lats..

Better to be 100% that nothing is wrong.

same thing happened to me 3-4 weeks ago. i havnt deadlifted since but i tried doing squats the other day and was too nervous to put more than 135 on the bar so i just repped that out to failure for 4 sets and then went to leg curls and leg press. hopefully i will be back to light deadlifts within 2 weeks or so.

make sure when doing big lifts like deadlifts, you definately should warm up. for atleast 4 sets of lighter weights
