Anyone who is experienced with Motorcycles (especially sportbikes)
So my friend wants to change the color of his bike. How would he go about doing this?? Would he be able to get it painted or would he have to change the fairings and what not.
Thanks!

He could paint the original fairings, or he could buy new fairings of a different color. Either way it won't be cheap, and it's going to devalue the bike.

Either pull the fairings and have them painted, or buy some blank bodywork and get that painted. Getting OEM fairings already painted would be incredibly expensive. Think $650 for one side panel

Look up automotive painting shops in his area, many will specify if they are proficient in motorcycle painting or not. Simple enough. Buying new fairings is sort of stupid, you don't buy new body panels when you get a car painted.

thanks for the replies, he's going to keep his bike for awhile so he doesnt care about the price decreasing, Its only a 2007 250 ninja. It was like $3,500 after tax when he bought it brand new. So which way would be cheapest?? I'm assuming painting everything, and would you have to go to a custom bike place or do dealerships do it too?

Assuming he lives in Missouri with you-

EDIT: 250 Ninjas are excellent when it comes to price decreasing. They are constantly in demand because many riders will pick them as their first bike.

ok so i called like 30 places and out of all of them except 1 place said they did superbike paint jobs. He said it would roughly cost around 1200-1500 bucks which is half the price of his bike. Is that the avg. price? It seems ridiculous because you can get your car which is 3 times the size of a motorcycle painted for $300. I didnt know it was rare to get superbikes painted...

This. It always amazed me how much some plastic was.
OP, after I laid mine down I had the right side sanded/painted and it was over $600.

Dude you can buy skins for bike fairings these days if you can't afford a paint job but still want a cool look.
Edit: Some of them are cheesy but a lot of companies do custom ones.
