This isn't really a supplement, but at the same time I guess it could be. My friends were telling me that recent studies have shown Pineapple to be very good to eat after working out. They explained it to me, but I was wondering if anybody knows somewhere that has a good article up on this.

It has bromelain, a protease (breaks down protein) enzyme which is also anti-inflammatory. However, really, is there a noticable benefit to taking enzymes with your protein? I'm not sure, but I doubt it. At the same time, a strong anti-inflammatory effect is something you want to avoid around your workout, if possible.
I'm not saying avoid it by any means, I'm just saying it's not as amazing as it sounds. Just one of those things where a bro can find one little benefit and turn it into "eat pineapple after every workout brah, it'll get ur fibraz jacked!" So...your friend is kinda right, but kinda wrong.I want to touch the butt.

This is the biggest BS everr. My roomate went out the other day and bought like 20 cans of pineapple and as he put it, "hes gonna get hyooge!" He's doing it cuz there's some blog or chart online saying some football player (i forget the dude's name but he just got drafted, maybe aaron maybin?) and how he ate a ton of steak and pineapple everry day and he gained like 40+lbs. I laughed in my roomates face

GREAT DIURETIC!!! It is great to bring down that bloated look, naturally. If you are taking a large amount of creatine, this is a natural way to offset that bloat.
Don't buy that crap in a can. Buy it whole and peel it yourself. Keep it in the refrigerator.
I HIGHLY recommend it.Last edited by HeismanWatch; 08-04-2009 at 09:53 PM.

franco columbu
While I know I am resurrecting a dead thread I feel it is important to clarify that past Mr. Olympia Dr. Franco Columbu praised the pineapple and included it in many of his diet recommendations. He was also a trained nutritionist - his book actually has a lot of information on the topic and it isn't just some myth: It does contain some specific protein centric enzymes that can aid in your body utilizing it to its full potential.
I stumbled across this thread and I noticed a lot of people treating Pineapple as if it where a mythological diet trend when in reality it does have some scientifically backed benefits...
Don't hate on it - It's good stuff.
