Declined phone due to credit history??

ok basically i want to change my phone contract and they ran a check on my credit history and i was declined

basically i have no credit history as i have never had a credit card taken a loan ect

im wondering if there is any way around this as i want a sweet new phone and i think its bull**** that im being refused

use ur credit card and pay it off every month to build credit...

Or you can open a joint savings account so she can withdraw from it too.

They should have offered you the option to pay a deposit (several hundred $'s). You still pay your bill every month per usual but if you stop paying they take it right out of your deposit, which may be the whole thing if you end up violating the contract and have to pay a termination fee.

If you have overdrafted your account by 3,000 pounds, then maybe you have bigger problems than needing a new phone.

Very first time I had a cell phone I had no credit history. They just wanted a deposit up front.....Somewhere around 3 months worth of bills if I remember.....see if you can find a place that will do that.

UK banks give students a few k interest free.

Hell, I'm eleigible for ?20k loan at a "good rate" from Natwest.

Which network are you going with?

Vodafone gave me an N95 Black, 800 mins, unltd texts, unltd internet, unltd landline calls abd a bunch of other **** for ?25 a month. This was 18 months ago so I'm due for an upgrade. I too was a student.

Also, go to www.next.co.uk and get an account. It will give you a ?400 limit to start with, and just keep it on a clear balance.

Not sure how it is over the pond but here most major wireless providers will provide serive without a contract however you have to pay full price for the phone. You can also buy a pre-paid phone and pay for your minutes up front.

Run a next account for a couple of months, or one of those rediculous poor credit credit cards, and then when it turns up cut the thing up but have the account running.

You need a history of credit before a company will let you have a contract. I paid monthy car insurance consistently for 30+ months so mine is pretty straight.

I have a natwest credit card which I might have some outstanding on, but will clear it before the interest is due.

I have a **** load of store cards and store accounts.

Debenhams, Next, Topman/Topshop to name but a few, but you get the idea

I dont use any of them, and don't think I kept the store cards, but each time they do a credit check, it shows I have a ****load of available credit and that I havent missed a payment.

Oh, are you on the electoral role? That can be a factor.

I think (from when I used to help with the familys mortage business) that you need a couple of months.

So I should imagine a phone contract would be happy with you having a couple of months credit too.
