No, weightlifting just adds more weight to your body and if you don't train for speed or agility then you will slow down because you have extra body weight to run with.

depends how you lift. off season my high school's track team lifted for size/strength. in season we lifted for explosiveness.
i'm not gonna get too much into it because there's so much to explain, but basically:
train explosiveness to be explosive. it's that simple.
if you had to choose between JUST squatting or JUST doing plyometrics, JUST plyometrics would make you faster than JUST squatting because you're training your muscles to be explosive. if you do both, then you'll be one faster mother****er

Most sprinters like Usain Bolt (current world-record holder), Tyson Gay (holds his own against Bolt), Asafa Powell (former world-record holder), Maurice Green (former world-record holder) and even Michael Johnson (Some consider to be the fastest man ever) incorporate weight-lifting into their routines.
Think of it like this: As you build up your (leg) muscles, it helps your legs move much faster due to stronger legs pulling you forward and building up your (arm) muscles helps to have faster hand movement which contributes to leg movement. As well as those, you're losing fat which helps you move faster due to less weight pulling your downOne rep maxes-
Squat: 297lbs
Deadlifts: 359lbs
Bench Press: 195lbs
Total: 851lbs
