The Camaro has what size engine compared to the Shelby's what sized engine?

There are zero "fair" comparisons if you think of it like that....

camaro, if it had anywhere near the amount of mods the mustang had it would blow it out of the water. Plus it is cheaper.

The Mustang is lighter than the Camaro. It also handles better (According to Car & Driver).

they are two different classes of car in two different price ranges

if you're gonna compare, compare in the same price range/car level

ford's competitor with the camaro is not the Shelby 500, its the mustang GT, which would lose by FAR in a drag against an SS

lol ok, so when the Camaro at what 426 hp beat the 315 hp Stang it wasn't fair but now they have a GT 500 with over 100hp more than the Camaro its now fair?

Logic... I don't see it.

50k Stang and 33k Camaro... we all know the clear winner, regardless if you want to admit it or not.

and for the record, that particular mustang shelby weighed in at 3917 lbs, and the camaro weighed in at roughly 3860 lbs

Fair enough. But don't come in talking about how if you added this and that modification to it, then it would be a fair comparison. Like I said, there would be zero comparisons if you thought about it like that.

Add a blower to the camaro, you have to increase the cubes on the gt500.
Gotta give the same rear end type, solid or IRS to both cars..

It actually keeps up well. It's only something like a tenth of a second slower.

this has been an ongoing battle for a while

camaro vs. mustang, its all muscle and pony cars and has been for 40 years now

but given 50,000 dollars to buy a mustang or a camaro, and do to it whatever you will, i see camaro winning. i could be wrong, but i doubt it.

In terms of which car I would rather have, it'd be the camaro hands down and have 15k to put toward other things than a mustang.

gt500 and slap a kenne bell on it with a pulley and a tune and be at 800 something hp. the camaro is a good car to, heads and cam and you will be alright

dont know if there are any aftermarket parts for the camaro yet tho. except exhaust maybe.

Dude, we're not arguing two different points....we're arguing the same thing...

But I would take the camaro, simply because I've always like the sound of SBC's. They have proven to be reliable, and modifying them in the past has proven to show great gains. Plus, I like the interior.

that'll probably change once I see them as often as I do the 4th gens....

Actually, those defending the Camaro are giving the exact same arguments that the Ford guys used to use. Ironic.

I'd take the Shelby hands down. I hear there are some nasty transmission problems with the '10 Camaros.
