Recommendation : a bowl of ice cream after workout?

According to American Journal Of Clinical Nutrition, it is recommended to have a bowl of ice cream afer workout
The rationale is ice cream triggers a surge of insulin better than most foods do. And that'll put a damper on post-workout protein breakdown

    Any comments on this?
    Anyone tried this before?

Ice cream is fine after the workout, but this of course is dependant on the rest of your diet and maybe even pre workout nutrtion.

...If you want anything to do with insulin and ice cream could I reccommend some fat free frozen yoghurt? I'm guessing that the fat would put a damper on any possible spike.

Hay I read that on men's health too.

Not that it's a bad source, sometimes they just run out of things to put in their magazines so they'll post strange exercises like a squat that swallowed a bicep curl..

Insulin is a hormone that is necessary in the muscle building process, that's why you would want a spike after working out.

OP: I think there are many more healthier ways to get a spike in insulin after you workout such as drinking 50g of whey blended with a banana, 1 cup uncooked oats, and a couple tablespoons of natural peanut butter all mixed in whole milk.

If you are going to eat ice cream, then after a workout would be the only time I'd even consider it.

The problem I have with ice cream is that I cannot seem to limit myself to a small amount and I go way overboard on it.
