i feel like stretching could def allow for greater bloodflow throughout the muscles bringing more nutrients and oxygen to them and therefore helping them grow. I dno how big the benefits would be tho.

Lets think physically for a moment. Every time you lift you aim to contract and stretch muscle fibers, but you use weights for the movement. That is important, because the fiber has no chance on preparing for the stress you are about to put onto it.
Why is it important? Because unprepared muscle fibers tend to get damaged and repaired, which is the key factor to muscle growth.
Stretching with no weights can only prepare the fibers for the coming stress, which leads to a conclusion that your muscle fibers will be less damaged, and in that case you will reduce your potential muscle growth.
So, lets conclude. Stretching or warming up does not bring you big muscles, in fact it reduces your potential. But it does PREVENT muscle over-burns, injuries and etc.
Stretching could be a good thing if you are working on increasing your stamina, strength or when you are injured, but it ain't beneficial for gaining muscle volume!

Well a light warm up on a treadmill for 5 minutes is good for you to get the blood flowing to your body since that will help you increase your performance, but static stretching does also reduce your muscles' strength temporarily. I wait a couple of minutes after stretching for the muscles to respond to the stretching and gain back their overall strength. Typically this waiting time will be getting the weights ready for the first set.
