Just did another podcast
Hello Ladies & gentlebros. I just did an interview w/Mike Robertson, think you might find it interesting. Of course I do some pluggage at the end, but there's also some good foundational info in the podcast.

Hey Alan
Just finished listening to your appearance on the fitcast and another nice job, I really respect all your work. One thing I have been trying to look at and am having trouble finding literature/research on is macronutrients and nitrogen balance. SOmeone told me that too much protein can actually have a negative effect? Is this so? Assuming caloric intake remains constant is there any benefit in shifting away from protein to fat/carbs (not taking into account price/personal taste for food). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

All - thanks for listening to this, glad you liked it.
determined4000,
N-balance as an index of anabolism or catabolism has some significant limitations (ie, endogenous N consumption by microflora can yield false positive results, N losses through skin, respiration, etc is difficult to measure). So right off the bat, you can stop putting much stock into it. It's not useless, but it's just not all that comprehensive or accurately representative of what's going on. As for shifting away from protein to more carb & fat, this is a general question that I can only give a general answer to, which is... It depends on the existing intake & how it might impact the goal. But to go in on this question assumptively, I'd say you possibly read some wacky sh!t and are overthinking things.

So do the editors at Men's Health flip out when they hear you say it's ok to eat white potatoes?

Man, your microphone equipment sure has improved from the last podcast. Your audio sounded "in studio" and Mike Robertson sounded tinny.
As usual, loved the straight shooting, no sugar-coating.

Bump for those who have just returned from the gym, slammed their WMS and are ready to pass out in front of the computer and need an upper.

Nice!
I like how you touched on training while dieting. I just came to that realization not long ago. The first thing I thought was reduce cals and up training volume and intensity.
I felt so burnt out its not funny. Since I cut down on volume a bit and took no sets to complete failure my energy and strenght has gone up and my body comp has improved all while on less cals.
