What is the best thing to do when a cop asks you how much you've had to drink?

I've always heard to just be honest and tell them. They'll find out anyway based on your performance during the tests/breathalyzer.

when a cop pulls you over, and you think you may be going to jail, you don't answer any of his questions...give license and registration and say nothing other than you want an attorney...hopefully they don't hire you.

tell them you just finished a drink and they have to wait 20 minutes to give you a breathalyzer. Some cops want worry about it and some will actually wait.

i got pulled over when i was 20 and was picking ppl up from the bar and i had a couple of drinks at a party.... i lied and told the cops i went to a movie with my gf and i offered to pick my friends up from the bar... he believed me and let me go i think it was cause my friends were drunk throwing stuff at each other and acting stupid asking him why we got pulled over

true, but thats designed to prevent you from self implicating yourself, you can't deny a breathalyser so the point is moot

When I got pulled over in Maine, I said the truth. I might have been over the limit. I don't know the rules there. In Ontario, I should be fine.

When he realized I was from Ontario, he let me go saying "I'll let you go tonight. Becareful as the laws here are different from Ontario. Have a good night."

I was like sweet.

One time I got the check up (they check every car going on the highway), I was honest. I might have been high enough for a 1 one day suspension (new law). Then he was like... "Is that a hearing aid?" (Yes, hearing impaired.) And I was like... "Yeah, why?" And then the cop is like... "Have a good night."

its better to get taken in and not have something on record as aposed to haveing your BAC taken then they have proof. If you deny it you may lose license for month or 2 as apposed to a year and massive amounts of court fees for DUI

depends how drunk you are. if you have just had a couple and he is trying to decide whether or not you've been drinking, lying is your best bet. if you're drunk and hes gonna breathalyze you anyway, i guess you should tell him you had a few but you're really gonna be screwed either way.

All states? Cause in Mass and florida I have never heard of this..... They cant just take your blood brah......
