Anyone been to Bourbon Street?
We're trying to fit this trip in before obligations tie us down but none of us have been there before.
We're trying to decide between the Maison Dupuy and the Marriott on Canal Street. Any suggestions on where to stay? Eat? Drink?
Help is much appreciated!

I love bout an hour from there. Go saints Anyway I would stay at which ever one is closer to bourbon. Closer the better after a good night. Good place to eat is at deenies. It's one block off bourbon. And my favorite place is the hustler club. But tropical paradise has the hand gernade. And pat obriens has a good hurricane and food to.

Been to Mardi Gras 3 times, but to tell you the truth I don't remember much.
Was **** canned most of the time.
One thing I do remember is hot 2 chicks above the Velvet Dog, naked doing some insane stuff.
Oh second thing, girl asked for me money for a slice of pizza, I gave her a ten, and she stuffed the change down the front of my pants.
Good times
Oh yea, Pat Obriens Hurricains for the win

I'm not sure how far down Canal that hotel is but be careful. The closer you walk to the superdome the more dangerous it gets (but the superdome is on the other side of the interstate, but you get what I'm saying).
Be sure to check out Cafe Du Monde for beniets (not sure how you spell that) in the morning. Obviously get hand grenades on bourbon.
Also, be careful of thiefs. I've had several friends get their wallets stolen during fraternity formals down there.

Very near Cafe Du Monde on Decatur st is a bar restaraunt called "Coops Kitchen." Go and order their Creamy Cajun Pasta. WILL RAPE YOUR LIFE - it's THAT good.
Drink at least one Hand Grenade - they fuk you up proper.

Will be sure to do all!
repped!
It says half a mile down from Bourbon street. We'll be sure not to go close to the superdome, I appreciate the heads up.

half a mile on bourbon or canal? They are perpendicular.
EDIT: and apparently the superdome is on the same side of I-10 as the french quarter; I was incorrect.

Canal st and bourbon st are nowhere near the superdome - all of that is in a fairly safe location.

Canal is like 2 or 3 blocks over from the superdome. That is absolutely not a nice area whatsoever.

okay that's kind of where I stayed last time. I stayed at the Grand Palace Hotel (formerly known as the Crescent on Canal) and the walk definitely got much sketchier as we walked down Canal toward I-10. You should be good though, just keep your wallet in your front pocket.

went to saints game this past season, the sunday night game, and walked from their to bourbon and had a blast all morning. Hand grenades are awesome, and strip clubs everywhere. Walked into the bottomless one and was in their 2 minutes max and walked right back out, already had pancakes.
edit: not sure if true, but heard the place that sales hand grenades burned down. True?

Sounds fancy, the room I'm looking at booking is $97 after taxes (yes poor college students)

We're gonna take you up on this, it'll be crazy partying with a Miscer and it'll be nice to have someone who knows the area so we don't waste anytime wandering. We're heading in early August, I'll pm you once we get thing solidified.

Had one from Popeye's chicken once, will be sure to get the real thing at Bourbon street, haha. I'm going for a record # of calories that day.

Blah, I'm not into the strip clubs and I'm thinking I'm gonna get raped out on the street waiting for them to get out of them. I'm excited just for the experience though.

I'll probably only be around for the next couple weeks but i can get off work almost any time i want.
By the way, i'd def go to pat o'briens and you should check out Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop just cause its the oldest bar in America (1773 i think) and cause it has no electric lighting and is pretty cool depending on what mood your in. (its on travel channel every once in a while). I also like to hang out at The Old Absinth House (to drink Absinth), but its kinda chill and thats prolly not what your looking for on this trip. As far as food, almost everywhere is good in the quarter and you really cant go wrong.

I live in N.O.... Stay in the french quarter and business/warehouse districts... they're the safest. The Marriott is nice but its like every other marriott (nice nothing special)... boutique hotels/motels that are in the quarter are the nicest... they're tiny and expensive but they have balconies overlooking the street. i've stayed in one, but havent payed for it so i dont know how much it costs (im poor as ****).
eat anywhere the **** you want because its all good.. my personal fave is napoleans... they have a courtyard that's beatiful... good for lunch has sandwiches and ****.
drink on bourbon/french quarter and dont leave that area
(it gets really rough right outside the quarter and especially uptown)
the uptown area near tulane is beautiful also
edit: drinking: get hand grenades 2 of em had me destroyed
decatour street (the back end of the quarter) has a bunch of dive bars that locals go to.. dont take pics and **** and you'll be straight.
theres a bar called beerfest that has a 16 person funnel hanging from the roof and has all the diff abita beers on tap as well as 30 others.
