Advise needed please
I have been working with my PT for the past few months , I've achieved good results with him , my goal was to lose weight initially which we achieved , now my target has changed and I want to add muscle mass and definition .
he gave me a routine which consist of 2 day split which I can repeat twice a week , we do 2-3 excersises ( mainly 2) each muscle group 3 sets 10-12 reps. ( I've done full body for 3 months)
is this routine good enough ? I am not tired after working out and somehow I don't feel challenged ?
how can I approach this with him without looking like I don't like his routine , I found that the direct approach of I don't like this , kinda of counterproductive sometimes !!!!
I don't want to look like an idiot in case his routine was adequate !!! I've been lifting for few months now but wants to go heavy.
please advise me what to do.
thanks.

Well...it looks like your goals have changed and what you need to do is have a very thorough discussion with him about that.
Let him explain the reason and rationalization behind his programming. Ask him to have it 'make sense' to you, so that way you can fully commit to your workouts.
His/her job should also be to educate you, not just put you through the sets and reps.

yeah man just talk to him tell him your goals have changed, have you been on the same programme for 3 months?! and find out why he has done what he has, do some reading and discuss what you have found and just pick his brain for knowledge about things..... what are your goals?

As your trainer he should be asking you how you feel after it
like how was that for you? too easy/hard?
and at this point you say too easy, if he's not asking you anything then he has no clue

Ask your trainer where he sees you in 8-10 weeks, what weights you should use by then, what you should weigh etc. If he hasn't done an outline for you ( i give all my clients 6-8 weeks cycles, making it a commitment on both sides), you should talk to him. approach it like a business, quarterly goals etc

thanks for your reply.
we generally change the program every 4 weeks , but the fact I am a women who wants to build up muscles isn't common where I live , he told me most women are afraid of going heavy , thats why I think he is either not taking what I want seriously or he just forgot.
he is quite good , but at the same time I feel he is kinda of proud , I am afraid he is thinking that I don't trust him with my workout .
when I started I was doing circuit training and wasn't giving him an easy time , but things turned around quite a bit now and with my fitness improving I want to work harder , which I can hardly believe myself !!!!! I just don't think he is taking me seriously .
I will try to talk to him as I don't want to change trainers now on work without one .
thanks again.

that is a good approach. in the end, he makes the call since he is the expert, but communication is key.
