Do we burn more calories by doing more sets per muscle-group?

Hello my dear weight-losers and dieters of this site: I would like to ask you all, if we can burn more calories from adding 2 to 4 extra sets to each muscle-group? For instance right now I do 8 total sets for large-muscles (back, chest, shoulders and legs. And 6 total sets for small-muscles (biceps, tricep, calves)

So my main question is would we burn more calories by adding 2 to 4 extra sets to each muscle group? I ask this because i do aerobic exercise (50 minutes of fast-walking, 5 days a week), but i would like to decrease my aerobic exercise to 40 minutes, while increasing the sets done in the weight-training sessions.

Yeah you'll burn more calories, but you don't want to burn yourself out without fuel. Remember, to eat enough to feed those muscles after, since they'll be craving for nutrients. Don't overkill though, otherwise you'll be tired all day. Try experimenting and see how many sets you can do at a moderate weight and see how your day goes. But to answer your question, more physical activity more calories burned!

Lol, with increased activity you'll burn more calories.

I'd be willing to say that 95% of people on this forum accomplish nothing in years, don't be one of those people. It's sad, they seem to have the knowledge many don't but can't utilize it.

Agreed with the above...more work = more energy needed to complete said work.

Just be leary of "over training".

Depends, which exercise amps your heart rate? If bench pressing gets it higher than tricep pushdowns, you'll burn more with the bench press.

However, weight lifting is about getting stronger, not burning calories.

Use diet #1 and cardio #2. Weight training should always be about maintaining strength, or better yet, getting stronger on a cut.
