Squatting is cake to me. I can deadlift and squat 500+ but only bench press 225. So I am in the 1000+ club by just two lifts lol I dont know what it is but I am weak on the bench press. My chest is pretty big too I dunno I am sure in the next year my bench will follow suit.

good call on the knee wraps. going that deep w/ that much weight will blow your knees out when you get a little older.

Yeah I always squat with knee wraps for my knees, belt for support, two sweat shirts so the bar doesnt dig into my back, and sweats so the wraps dont dig into my legs. Plus head phones and a hooded sweat shirt for the mental part

Thank you. Thats too bad. I take every precaution when going heavy. Belt, wraps, bars, 3 spots lol anything. It would suck not to control a lot of weight. I hope I can keep this steady gains coming. Good luck man I wish you a fast recovery.

gjdm. That's an AWFULLY handsy spotter though I will say. Does he help you at all or is it for psychological security?
btw if you're bench is that far behind why don't you just run maintenance on your squat and do some smolov jr. for bench for a few weeks, maybe run it twice?

IMO continue progress on squats (dont just do maintenance) - train hard and eventually bench will spike up before you know it (my bench went from 250 to 315 pretty fast)
let the gains keep coming, and let the plateaus fall where they may (youll always overcome them with hard work)

funny youre the only one to point that out. It is for a psychological purpose. If he is helping more than 5% usually he lets me know and I dont count it for a rep. But hes there to hold my sides and keep me compact, be there mentally, and it helps to cause when you see yourself in the mirror with 500lbs you start to get wobbly but no he doesnt help lift too much; I am always in control of the weight as you can see. I highly advise and recommend when going this heavy that everyone utilize a good spotter.

I agree. No point in slowing down gains. I am 18 my 315 bench will probably come down the road lol

Do you realize how big of a strength discrepancy he has? Not that it's bad, squatting and pulling are clearly much truer tests of strength than bench, but it's nice to have body equilbrium with strength. Personally my bench is always strongest when the other two are lagging, and vice versa.

Yea I think most people didn't want to sound like they were discrediting your lift since they were impressed you actually hit depth. I just don't prefer it because it can become a psychological crutch and mess you up in competition. But that's just me because I still compete occasionally.

Yeah I hear ya. My buddy is going off to school in the fall so I am gonna have to do a lot more squatting without a good spot. Once I get my squat and deadlift up another 100lbs and hit 300+ on my bench was thinking about competing before I am 20.
