It's seems like everywhere you look on the Misc. these days, we're surrounded by hairless wonders. Shaved chests, legs... and even arms!
It's enough to make you wonder about the fate of our once proud gender brahs.
What has brought this to pass? When did it become acceptable for men to preen and pretty themselves like poodles? And what, in God's name, is the appeal of this girly-manness?

When you see bodybuilders on stage looking like gods, you want to emulate them...so naturally the second people start getting muscles they get rid of their hair to show it off. Same thing with actors in movies...Rambo didn't have any body hair. Neither did ryan reynolds, the rock, vin diesel, brad pitt, etc
Same goes with magazines and pretty much all outlets of media.

Saw a bunch of a legitimate, blind studies where they surveyed a massive group of women from all around the globe; it was something like 4% of the women preferred natty chest over shaved.

EDIT: Also, the more hair you have, the more easily you get static cling. Hair, in part, keeps our skin dry. Dry skin is a huge contributor to the amount of static able to build up on your clothing. I hate that sh!t on my pants; no way I want it on my shirt too.

Natives around here all shave completely, pubes and everything even the old ones. Btw I don't know what's up with the girls you guys know but most which I ask say that trimmed body hair > clean shaven, some even told me "if it doesn't have hair in its legs it's not a man", guess it's really just a cultural thing.
