Shepz training log, getting back into the swing of things

well here we go, i havent trained since about this time last year, mainly due to alot other things which just prevented me training, me getting my house and working 3 jobs 7 days a week and 70+ hours a week! But i'm down to just the one job now still pretty bad hours as in mon-thurs i work 10-8. have still lifted and done some cardio but i'm really looking forward to getting myself in serious shape again as i was when i trained before. My first main objective is to get my skills up to scratch as they were before and then take it from there.

But to combat this i'v managed to pick up some weights and a double ended bag and turning my living room into a mini-gym. obviously i'l still be attending MMA/Muay Thai classes on the 3 days i dont work but on the days i do work i'l still have some time to get in a few hours of cardio/boxing training in my living room, not ideal but **** i got bills to pay!

    schedule's gonna look like this

mon - morning run light jog = rest day , stretch
tues - morning run more intense run, boxing tech. evening = cardio circuit, stretch
wed - morning run, more intense run, boxing tech. evening = cardio circuit, stretch
thurs- morning run light jog = rest day
fri - gym weight session push, MMA/BJJ training
sat - gym weigh session pull, Muay Thai training
sun - morning light MMA/BJJ session then rest

Not ideal but right now its going to be the only thing that works considering the hours i'm working!

right now i'm weighing 192lbs at about 12%bf (guess) feeling pretty fit but cant wait to feel as good as i used to when i trained seriously before.

    Good luck bro.

Do you have a goal? You gonna compete or is this just to get back in shape?

You still at Scottish MMA/Urban Disturbance?

    Cheers for the reply man!

2 goals really the overall goal is to compete, but the main goal over the next 4 months(takes me up to 2010) is to really seriously get myself into shape. early 2010 will keep an eye out for any Grappling comps then hopefully look at taking a fight around this time next year.

gonna be training at a few different gyms each for Grappling/MMA, Muay Thai and Boxing. Unfortunately though we just havent got the level of MMA gyms/talent/people wanting to train as you guys do over on the west coast. the MMA gym i train at is relatively small and un-known but there's a hardcore of about 4-6 guys that are there week in week out.

Today i did a bit of light double ended bagwork just really getting back into the swing of things and getting my Rythem back, 2moro i'm off work so will hopefully manage to squeeze in some extra training.

well today i had a day off work today to fix a leak in my kitchen(got that sorted!) so had a run in the morning and a few rounds on the double ended bag, and because i wasnt working i had time to go train tonight, first time in a year! was good seeing some old faces and a few new faces there also!

tues is standup night and tonight we worked purely on hands, started up with a warm-up and a stretch and then did 4 rounds shadow boxing using one of Bas's training cd's, then got the pads out and did 4 rounds on the pads and then took it in turns one guy throwing punches and one guy blocking for 4 rounds. By this time i was nackerd, but tbh it was to be expected! then we got the big gloves on and had a spar,i actually did ok felt good, had good movement and footwork but i really need to work on circling instead of back-peddling. managed to land a few good shots and only really took the one stiff jab which just really down to fatigue, managed to hold up for 5 rounds of sparring. Some guys are training for fights at the mo and were going real hard and with it being my first time sparring in a year but i still did ok, but hopefully alot better once i get in the swing of things. had a roll with one of the better fighters there who's actually training for a fight right now and got tapped pretty quickly with back to back triangle's. definatly needing work on my ground game, but **** thats what trainings for!

well had a good training sesh there on friday, had a warm up then completed a circuit which included, squats, jumping knee raises, crunches, press ups. then also did some body condition with involved us pairing up and taking turns to give/recieve some light building up to heavier body shots! then we went onto grappling, did about 6 x 4 minutes rounds, which i did suprisingly well in, considering i hadnt rolled in nearly a year! gained some good positioning and felt comfortable when my opponent on top managing to neutralise threats.

worked at home on m boxing tonight which involved...

    loads of heavy cotten clothing
    my heating turned on
3 x rounds shadow boxing and 3 x rounds on the floor to ceiling ball
then a weights circuit of dumbell bench press, curls, shrugs and press ups
then finished it off with a a freezing cold bath

feel awesome now tho and looking forward to the next training session, also got my weight down big time. was weighing at my heaviest 92KG(about 3 weeks ago) and on friday just passed at i weighed in at 85KG.
