Running Warcraft II on Vista?
Anybody know how this can be done?
I've still got the CD. I go to My Computer and go into the Warcract II CD icon. On the thing that says "Install" I have right-clicked, gone to Properties/Compatibility and set it to run in Windows 95 Compatibility.
I still get this error message below. Can anybody help?

Right click on the icon, go to properties, go to compatibility tap, and change it to run as Windows Xp. I tried this with my old games and it worked. Try it brah, and report back.

This. You need to run it in compatibility mode.
If you're using 64 bit vista, make sure it installed into x86 program files.

You may also need to set your screen resolution lower and/or change the color options to something like 256 colors.

What's x86 program files? And I haven't installed it yet, I can't get past this initial stage. It still says it's incompatible with 64-bit

In vista64 there are two program files directories, one for 64 bit programs and one that is 32 bit emulation. Try installing it to Program Files (x86) if that isn't the default directory, as windows 95 was around before 64 bit programming (this is all assuming you use vista64 btw).
If all of that fails, try the instructions regarding DOSbox here http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=36718 although I'm not sure that'll do anything if you can't even get past installation.

Yea, I'm pretty sure I'm on Vista64. If I go on my C Drive, I can see the two different folders "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86). How do I install the game to the latter folder? That's what I don't understand.

LOL....it's the only WC game I've ever played. But I'll never stop loving it.
I also play Diablo 1 (never played 2)

Oh I guess that error is right at startup... ****, I don't know. Have you tried running it in compatibility mode for windows 95? The setup .exe I mean?
You're probably going to have to use a DOS emulator like DOSbox, period. Even then, I've read that the original WC2 won't work on vista even using that, and that you'll need the WC2 battle.net edition.

When I try to run the install or setup things, it's telling me it can't find them.
I've used DOS Box on my old computer, and it worked ok. I may give that a try. Thanks anyway.
