JiP's Promise to Progress
A lot of people will read this and think, 'why the hell is JiP still so weak'? I've made a lot of training mistakes, with being inconsistent and haven't made a lot of progress considering how long I've been lifting.
But i'm in a fairly good place right now and am going to progress a lot. I go camping every year in July, my plan is look back to the first couple of months of this log next year and be happy with how much progress i've made. I'll also take some good progress pictures. I plan on gaining weight for the next 9 months and then losing weight for 3 months. I also want to compete in a PLing competition.
I had a minor pec tear a couple of months ago which ruined my bench progress. It's fine now though.
21/07/09
Squat
70 x 5
82.5 x 5
97.5 x 5
112.5 x 5
127 x 5 [280lb]
Bench
50 x 5
57.5 x 5
65 x 5
70 x 5
78 x 5
Notes
Had an argument with training partner over workout music so he stormed off and slammed my garage door and broke it. Had to spend 30 mins fixing it so had no time for accessories. Finding a good partner is impossible.
22/07/09
Run 7/8 minutes
Walk 15 minutes
Been wanting to get in better running shape for a while so started yesterday. Made a route that I can run and will keep trying it until I can run it twice, then i'll make a bigger one. Have to do fitness testing for college in september so probably a good idea to get it done now.

23/07/09
Deadlifts
70 x 8
100 x 3
120 x 3
belt
137.5 x 3
155 x 3
172.5 x 3 [380lb]
Incline Bench
40 x 8
50 x 8 x 3
First time doing this, feels good man
Rows
70 x 6 x 4
Notes
Surprised I got the deadlift. First rep my whole body felt like it was being sucked into the floor. Tough lift.
I'll probably do some curls in my living room when my parents go to bed.

25/07/09
Bench
50 x 5
57.5 x 5
65 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 3
realised I was letting my wrists roll back when benching, fixed this today and the weight flew up
Squats
70 x 5
85 x 5
97.5 x 5
belt
112.5 x 5
130 x 3 [286lb]
145 x 1 [320lb]
Pull Ups
4x8
CGBP
62.5 x 8 x 3
Notes
Felt like I was a walking corpse this whole workout. My back was really sore from deadlifting still. 145/320 on squat was pretty sweet though!
I feel like I've cheated myself by not doing one more set of CGBP. Anyone else get this stupid guilty feeling?

Didn't feel great today. Have been sleeping like **** all this week. Still a pretty good workout. Before this I didn't think I could bench 200lbs, and the 210 flew up. Probably another 5-10lbs there.

I squat a few inches above parallel, any lower is bad for your knees

I thought your journal had faded to the bottom of the list. Have you got a new one? I'm going to take some vids soon, especially when I get 200kg deadlift. Having the 3 reds and the yellow on will be sweeeeeeeet. I need to buy a decent digital camera, which i can't afford..

No journal. I might start one up as I prepare for a meet on Nov. 14th.
Steal a camera.

If I do, I'll let you know.
Now, stop with all the friendly talk. People might start to think things.
I hate you.

Deadlifts
70 x 8
107.5 x 3
125 x 3
belt
140 x 3
160 x 3
179.5 x fail x 5, got it about six inches off the floor once. meant to be a new 3rm
Incline Bench
55 x 6 x 4
Rows
75 x 6 x 4
Notes
Wasn't feeling this workout from the start. Felt tired as **** and still sore. Considering my top set was only 3.5kg above last weeks 3rm I must have not given myself enough recovery time or just plain hit a wall. Either way i've progressed well for the past ~10 weeks and have probably added over 25kg to my deadlift 1rm. I'll use 160x3 from this week as the start of my deload/reset and work back up to a new 3rm over the next 4 weeks.
