    hooks or straps? reps

    I have read a bunch of outdated threads on comparing these too, and they also refer to pretty outdated models and stuff..
    I was just wondering what you guys prefer, and why?

    my options are the harbinger lifting hooks or the bodybuilding.com lifting straps...(i can get those hooks for free, and have the straps for free)

    I need to use one because I am having a lot of difficulty isolating my back when doing shrug exercises...I WILL not use them for deadlifts or anything else, just shrugs.

    if you can get both for free, then get em, try both, and see what you like....

    I have never used the hooks....but i use straps while BB shrugging and they work great for me

    I've also never tried hooks but I've had great results with straps.

    I used to use hooks. They were good, but one day I tried straps. Never went back to hooks after that. Just a more solid feel.

    IMO hooks are not as good as straps. Do some research on the lifting straps as some have horrible grip and move. You mentioned Harbinger hooks, they have very good lifting straps if you have that option. The BB.com lifting straps I am unsure of.

    I guess I will just have to try both, as lame as it sounds I am worried I am going to have trouble putting on the straps...

    try using chalk instead, the straps are a bitch at first but you get used to them after a couple lifts

    try them and see. i tried straps a few times but didnt like the way it felt so i went without them for a while and worked on improving my grip strength. now i prefer to not use them at all.

    Try 'em both since you can get for free but I think you'll like the straps better. I use straps when I have need for something like that.
