Saw "Food, Inc." last night
I suggest it to everyone here, especially those serious about nutrition and what they ingest. It's eye-opening, though not maybe as much as "The Future of Food" and "F.L.O.W. - For Love of Water" but i would still get to the theater and support it.
Monsanto, Tyson, Smithfield, etc - we have seen the enemy, and it is you.

Bump for more opinions on this...
[Full disclosure - I read about it on the inside foil safety seal of a Stoneyfield Farm yogurt container and haven't seen it yet.]
I looked for it when I was out today but it wasn't playing nearby. Looks like I'll have to catch it on DVD. (But I did get gas for 2.23 lol... :nice: :FTW: )

for as much as all you people care about your bodies, it's kind of disillusioning for me to see such little interest in a movie with such important implications for your body's future.
get out and see this movie, and realize that most of what you're eating (especially if you're a heavy meat eater) is disgusting. i'm down to meat on 2 MEALS a week (out of what, like 42 meals) and haven't lost ANY STRENGTH WHATSOEVER in the two months it's been occurring. My deadlift has actually increased, as has my military press.
See this movie.

Sorry but I am a meat eater, not a tree hugger. I am not going to waste my time on a biased movie trying to push a political agenda.

Meat good! I go to a butcher to get my meat. I only buy chicken at Sam's because it's cheaper than getting free-range chicken from my butcher.
You should try him: Pete's Fine Meats off Richmond and Chimney Rock.

You sound as though you're pushing the movie, or have a hidden agenda. Obviously you don't, but I think the majority of people here know how disgusting the meat industry is. Most people just choose not to think about it. I personally eat chicken about 3 times per week, and ground beef once, but that is my choice and I would never nor do I tell anyone what they should or shouldn't eat. What constitutes as healthy to me is, check the blood work, bro! Oh yeah, and the colonoscopy I get every 2 years.

For the record, as a former vegetarian (did that for about 2.5 years and started eating meat again when muscle mass became a priority) I can say a lot of very positive things about the lifestyle. However, if you're looking to get big you really need animal protein to do it. No disrespect to vegetarians or vegans at all but it's just not going to happen for you without animal proteins.
That being said, there's a ton of merit in researching what goes in to the food you're eating. Whether you're against eating meat, against being a vegetarian, etc... you should open up your mind enough to check out some of the facts behind what's going on in the food industry. GMO foods are the way of the future and they are nutritionally deficient. I would encourage anyone to look into how companies like Monsanto and Tyson operate. While I say you should eat meat, I think you should know how it's processed and what's being added for your own good.
Whether or not this specific movie is going to enlighten you, I cannot say but when I see typical responses bashing someone because they don't eat a lot of meat - or any at all - it makes me cringe. There are a lot of good reasons behind either lifestyle. If you eat only meat, you're going to be missing crucial components in a healthy diet just like if you eat only vegetables and grains. The better researched you are, especially when it comes to a subject as important as food and the way you fuel your body, the better off you are. I do NOT encourage anyone in bodybuilding to not eat meat, but at least make better choices in the meat you eat and where you get it from and you can only do that by researching the industry and seeing what to avoid.

there are a large # of vegitarian BB'ers who make great progress, it just takes alot more food consumption.

I'm certainly not saying you can't accomplish anything as a vegetarian. I actually responded very well to the lifestyle physically and had some positive results. My point is that if your goal is to get big or perhaps more accurately... body builder big... you need animal proteins.
Vegan is particularly tough because you don't allow yourself to have any whey protein. To maintain my protein levels as a vegetarian I once ate 1400 eggs in a month. Miraculously, I still had good cholesterol levels.
