Computer problem (dvd Burner)

ok idk how this happend H honestly dont but I have a still brand new EXTERNAL (plugs in through USB) dvd burner, well now it is not working right.

My computer reads it, aknowledges its there and all that, but it doesnt do anything at all when I put anything in it.

I have it plugged into a 4 port usb hub, and when something works the light on the port its plugged into lights up. My external dvd burner takes two usb plugs, one for power and one for the computer...

well the one for the computer lights up, the one for the power doesnt no matter where i plug it in at. But the thing still works like it has power.

Last night It was working fine, but in the process of trying to burn a DVd i screwed something up i dont what i did now its not working.

Ive tried everything I could, uninstalling the driver, re installing it, unplugging it, pluggin it back in, restarting computer, turning on/off computer, switching USB ports, etc

still a no go....if i remember correctly last night the one light was still showing up (should be two lights that should be on) but atleast it was still reading some cds. Now it just sounds like its trying to load them but its not.

Whats the deal??

Additional Info:

Ive only had 3 months, used it only once so far to burn a CD.
Never have burned a DVD yet.
Last night while i was trying to make a dvd i also installed a terabyte driver.
It only plugs in through 2 usb ports.
