They constantly make fun of educated people and academia on the whole, trying to convince themselves that learning standard facts about the way the world works serves as a layered strategy of liberal mind control.

It works like this:

Preachers want their tithe money. They can get more tithe money if taxes are lower. So they tell their congregations to vote for smaller government.

Socialists hate religion because socialists want the tithe money to go to taxes instead.

But science (evolution) contradicts SOME religious teachings: those that don't claim both can be true.

So the socialists jump on that to attack the religous fiscal conservatives. "Educated" people then say, "wow, the socialists are right about evolution, therefore they must be right about everything else. Let's go socialist, instead of creationist."

And so that is why more educated people are liberal.

The best phylosophy is non-religous libertarian.

I went to college. When I was not sure if I could succeed, I thought about eaching instead. Many go into teaching because they want a captive audience of impressionable minds.

Not really, the liberals you are referencing were a broad group of individuals with different views on political philosophy and other areas. For instance, John Stuart Mill saw the government could do things to improve social progress and supported an inheritance tax. So under your definition he wasn't a liberal, actually under your definition I think most of the so called classical liberals wouldn't be liberal.

How many people get their heads filled with strange and radical political/religious ideas in college, just to have them change drastically when they get to the real world? Now imaging a group of college students that never leave academia and have that mentally grounding experience. That's the position professors are in.

Take a poll of people holding professional degrees (MBA, JD, MD, etc), ie people who are highly educated but actually live and work in the real world instead of academia. Your education = liberal BS will be right out the window. It's academia = liberal, which is very different than education = liberal.

I see some of the damndest **** said/written today by what we would call liberals and conservatives.

Libs:"I don't think there's really anything wrong with big government." out one side of their mouth and then "The bedroom is no place for the government. You can't legislate morals." Oh so big government is fine as long as you aren't the one targeted? And when the inevitable happens when you are willing to give the government as much authority as you would like, you get pissed?

Cons: "We need small government and freedoms." Well, as long as I agree that it's ok for you to have those freedoms.


Some ppl love the right to bear arms but aren't too much into seperation of church and state and freedom of speach......and vice versa for the liberals.

Let me reiterate I know there are exceptions but that is a huge majority of Americans.

Yeah, I'm sure that every single person gets exactly what they "deserve" under social darwinism. The kids that are born into families who can't afford health insurance, they deserve not to get treated, right?
