Socialists hate religion because socialists want the tithe money to go to taxes instead.

But science (evolution) contradicts SOME religious teachings: those that don't claim both can be true.

So the socialists jump on that to attack the religous fiscal conservatives. "Educated" people then say, "wow, the socialists are right about evolution, therefore they must be right about everything else. Let's go socialist, instead of creationist."

And so that is why more educated people are liberal.

The best phylosophy is non-religous libertarian.

Good point. Forgot to mention that.
I went to college. When I was not sure if I could succeed, I thought about eaching instead. Many go into teaching because they want a captive audience of impressionable minds.

No it doesn't you god damn idiot. In order to do research on certain areas you need to be in academia. So if someone wants to work on math proofs were do they go? The corporate center of Wal-Mart? Yeah, right. Grow a brain dip ****.

Not really, the liberals you are referencing were a broad group of individuals with different views on political philosophy and other areas. For instance, John Stuart Mill saw the government could do things to improve social progress and supported an inheritance tax. So under your definition he wasn't a liberal, actually under your definition I think most of the so called classical liberals wouldn't be liberal.

The academic world is very liberal, this isn't new or surprising. Academia is it's own little world, thoroughly seperated from the rest of the real world. How many people get their heads filled with strange and radical political/religious ideas in college, just to have them change drastically when they get to the real world? Now imaging a group of college students that never leave academia and have that mentally grounding experience. That's the position professors are in.

Take a poll of people holding professional degrees (MBA, JD, MD, etc), ie people who are highly educated but actually live and work in the real world instead of academia. Your education = liberal BS will be right out the window. It's academia = liberal, which is very different than education = liberal.

Couldn't the exact same thing be said about modern American Liberals, except that it's the ideology of big government and emotional appeals pandering to fear and hate?

Both sides definitely pander to the insecurities of different Americans.

I see some of the damndest **** said/written today by what we would call liberals and conservatives.

Libs:"I don't think there's really anything wrong with big government." out one side of their mouth and then "The bedroom is no place for the government. You can't legislate morals." Oh so big government is fine as long as you aren't the one targeted? And when the inevitable happens when you are willing to give the government as much authority as you would like, you get pissed?

Cons: "We need small government and freedoms." Well, as long as I agree that it's ok for you to have those freedoms.

Some ppl love the right to bear arms but aren't too much into seperation of church and state and freedom of speach......and vice versa for the liberals.

Let me reiterate I know there are exceptions but that is a huge majority of Americans.

How do the sayings go? "He who sacrifices liberty for security will receive nor does he deserve either"
"A government that's big enough to give you what you want is big enough to take it away"
All too fukkin true these days.

lol funny how the thread isn't worth reading based on the title yet you are posting here anyway...

and your argument fails since in any university professors almost always have to do research in addition to teaching

Just another example of what a "Liberal" education entails.
Students who haven't had a basis of critical/clear thinking instilled by their parents are easily manipulated.

Those "educated liberals", in addition to bankrupting the state, have turned it from having one of the best public school systems into on of the worst. Almost HALF of CA's students in public schools fail to graduate high school. This in spite of CA spending, per capita, one of the highest amounts on students, and have among the highest paid teachers in the country.

The economic bankruptcy is now further affecting an already low education level, as state and local tax revenues have crashed, schools are getting huge cuts. CA's education is going from bad to worse. Thanks to the liberal establishment.

Sounds like a perfect time to lower the standards and improve the statistics, eh?

Yeah, I'm sure that every single person gets exactly what they "deserve" under social darwinism. The kids that are born into families who can't afford health insurance, they deserve not to get treated, right? And the fact that the majority of the wealth in this country is inherited, not earned, those kids (like paris hilton) "deserve" that amount of money to fund their drug habits, right?

And here I was worried that the die-hard conservatives would respond to this by regurgitating more fox "news" anti-intellectual talking points. Boy am I glad that isn't the case.
