Quite a few IFBB Pros use contest "gurus" for their training and diets. Does anybody know if the pros also get coached with what type of gear they are using? Just curious.

I would bet its trial and error over the yrs, most have been using for LONG time and once becoming pro thru great genetics, they have learned what works best for them for compound choice, others Im sure get advice through others in similar situation

what do you think they guru's are really for?
It does vary I'll give you that but I paid big money for a high priced known guru and it was 75% steroid advice and about 25% diet
you have to understand some pro's are going to do whatever the fck they want on their diet and want help with the drugs, or will do their own drugs but only want diet help, or want help with it all.
But essentially a "guru" is someone who will do the diet, drugs, and just look at them to make sure they are coming in how they should.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose every "guru" works differently depending on the pro they are working with. This has just given me a little different perspective on this area of bodybuilding. I'll now be trying to "read between the lines" when the pros talk about how so-and-so really helped with their training, prep, etc.

guru's would be mostly for drug help, diet is all straightforward IMO unless you REALLY have no idea how to do a contest diet, but in that scenario you would be no where close to being a ifbb pro.
drug regimines on other hand...shiiiiit so many different ways of doing it not even funny, and it works hand in hand with your diet. You ain't fresh Amiziz

How would you give diet advice without giving steroid/gear advice?
Excuse me for beating any of you in the face with the obvious shovel, but, "gear", and "diet", aren't mutually exclusive. You don't have "diet", as one seperate entity, and "gear" as another sperate entity, "training" as a third entity, "cardio" as another, "supplements" as a fifth entity, etc.
No.. because diet, gear, training, cardio, supplements, are all one. One entity, contained in YOUR body.
Therefore, OF COURSE anyone doing your contest prep, would be guiding you on all of the above.
BTW.. there's a huge difference between how you would diet naturally, and how you'd diet using gear. There's even a bigger difference if you're using GH with the gear. This should be obvious.IFBB Professional Bodybuilder

milos has done ok since he learnd his own hard lessons. but i thought he hit a nerve with the syringe?
yeh, with gh/insulin's impact on glycogen, manipulating carbs would be very complex. There would be very fine lines in coming in full/hard & spilling over. And then electrolyte balance on top of things in the last few days...
you can imagine managing keto diets like palumbos would be very different than diets that involve carbs.

Personally I've gone back to using someone local a good competitor who is older and knows me well but not a "famous" guru.
I could actually give you two horror stories. Both are national compeitors that paid over $1,000 to their guru for some bs cookie cutter diet he was giving everyone else. The prep was terrible and the guru paid know attention to them.
The problem is the big name guys like farah, palumbo, nichols, aceto, etc. etc. are going to charge you and arm and a leg and they aren't going to spend their time with some average NPC competitor.
As far as personalized care most say George Farah is one of the best. A buddy of mine uses him and he is very happy and says farah was very fair with the prices.
