Smile Does running for "distance" help lose weight?

I run 5 laps without stopping. It takes me about 15-20 minutes.
I get tired very easy so I am hoping this helps me increase my lung capacity.
I plan to increase number of laps gradually.

Will this help me lose weight/body fat?

Running for time works best IMO.
Work at lowering your time per lap or per 5 laps. If it takes you 20mins, make it your goal to do it in 15mins (big leap I know, just making my point).
Then If you reach your goal, do 10 laps, time yourself, then make it your goal to do it even faster.
Higher intensity = greatest cardiovascular gains + greatest fat burning

I used to walk over 60 minutes every day but nothing happened. So I am thinking running/jogging non-stop is the solution.

Problem is I can only run/jog for limited time without stopping.

That's what I am thinking too. I started monday.(3 days ago) Thus why I am asking this.

I am skinny but I lost weight through stationary bicycle. So I still have pockets of fat despite being skinny.

If your unable to run for extended amounts of time, think of this as a perfect time to do some HIIT. Run hard for as long as you can, dont worry if your panting hard, and sweating buckets. When you have to stop, continue to walk for a minute or two, catch your breath, then run hard for as long as you can again.
Repeat until you have done 5 laps. Quickly you will find that your lap time drops as you can run hard for longer periods of time with shorter rests to catch your breath.
Then increase the number of laps.
This is vastly improve your running ability.

HIIT? I tried that on treadmill before. Does not work too well. Dangerous and takes too much time change pace.

Thanks. I will stick to running non-stop. Until I can run faster and longer

You don't need a treadmill to do HIIT. You can easily do it running laps. It burns wayyy more calories and improves cardiovascular abilities much better than running at a steady pace. Not to mention its greatest benefit. HIIT raises your metabolism by up to 15% for up to 24 hours AFTER your done exercising. This means your burning more fat when your not at the gym than you normally would, aka, greater weight loss.

I highly suggest at least trying it some more. Its hard, but well worth the effort.

And what dangers are you referring to?

Dangers? I meant running HIIT on treadmill is dangerous. I will try HIIT or all-out sprint after I get in better shape. Right now, I am really out of shape despite being skinny.

Well, like I said above, just trying to improve your time over the same amount of distance will do that. And I say GoodLuck to you.

This will only help you lose weight if you have a calorie deficit. To attain the calorie deficit through running is great. Your diet is the most important aspect of fat loss. Calories in versus calories out is rule number one. All else is secondary.

Exactly what he said. I have lost almost 40 lbs jogging with a calorie deficit. If you keep it up, you will be very happy with your lung capacity, and it will help boost your metabolism.
