Simpy's Back At It - Heaven Help Me!
It's been so long since I've actuallly worked out hard - and even longer since I have logged it. I'm embarrassed to think of how out of shape I have allowed myself to be. My body looks nothing at all like my avatar; and, thankfully, my face doesn't either.
For those of you who don't know, and for those of you who have forgotten, I got a job last fall that has kicked my now flabby tail. I work long hours and seem to rarely get a lunch break. This sucks, because my best intentions were to work out during my lunch hour. On the rare occassion that actually occurred, my workouts were too short to be as effective or draining as I had hoped. I find it difficult to workout outside of work hours because I commute 1 - 1.5 hours each way. The gym's not open that early in the morning, and I need to spend time with Cadillac, my son, when I make it back from work.
My plan is to start waking my lazy butt up in the mornings and either go for a run around the neighborhood, or do some P90X. P90X is a pretty good workout, but it is so boring to chain myself to a TV. I just don't have much in the way of home workout equipment right now to do more than that.
My goal is to lose a bit of fat. I really could care less how much I weigh. In my avatar picture, I was hovering right around 143. Right now I'm weighing in about 5 pounds above that, but believe me, it's a whole lot more than 5 pounds of unk that I'm packing. I've definitely lost some muscle, but that's okay too. I had gotten a bit more muscular than I was comfortable with by the time of my last figurecompetition. I don't anticipate having the time to work on a comp in the near future, so I prefer to be a little leaner and more willowy. That's a lie, though, I'll never be willowy. It's not in my DNA.
Also, because I prefer to eat this way, I'm pretty much doing high protein/low to no carbs at the moment. After the first week of crap, I really feel better when I eat without any starchy carbs in my diet. Next week I'm taking Cadillac to Ky Kingdom and then to Mammoth Caves. I imagine I'll load up on carbs then, but I'm hoping that will be it. The only thing I'll really miss are my margaritas. Damn, I love me some margaritas. I had a cat named Margarita once. It was a boy cat, but I didn't care.
That's it for my first post of this journal. I won't make it home from work until around 9 o'clock tonight. Tomorrow I'll log a workout. *cringe*

Hey, congrats on getting back in the game. It's never an easy thing finding time. I know I work 7 days in a row sometimes and it can be hell trying to find time, though I do cut out other hobbies for my main obsession.

Ugh. I know. I would just like to sleep at some point. And my main obsession is my husband and son. For the first time in a very long time, fitness is playing second fiddle.
Workout one is done.
It sucked.
P90X cardio is not my idea of a good time. There was a day when I would have been all, "Bring It," like a bad cheerleader movie. Now it's more of a, "Ohmygawd! Is he still expecting me to move?" I doubt it will take me long to get back at it. *Sigh*
I'm off to scrounge up some breakfast. I ate the last of the eggs yesterday, so I have no idea what I'll end up munching on.
Have a great day all. I'll try to bop around a bit later.

Yesterday was crazy at work, and today's been crazy. I've done about 75 loads of laundry, the floors, changed bedding, cleaned the bathroom, got a spray tan that wasn't worth the money, spent a hour in hell (a.k.a. WalMart), and visited with my mother. I did manage to jog a bit yesterday - about 1.5 miles, and I did some stuff today that really isn't worth mentioning. I may try to run some sprints in the morning, but we'll see.
Diet's going okay. I haven't weighed, and don't plan on it. I just want my ass to shrink. Oh, and my hips, those could go somewhere else, too. I put on some pants yesterday and realized I have a muffin top. I have no plans to buy new clothes, so I hope that my efforts to shed some fat move quickly.

I've spent the last few days traveling with my family. We headed up to Louisville for a few days. Cadillac wanted to go to KY Kingdom and Big Sexy wanted to ride the Belle of Louisville. I enjoyed both, but I was really in heaven when we left for Mammoth Cave. I hadn't been camping since I was a kid, and now I think I may have caught camping fever. I'm already planning to go again next month. I rained all night last night, which was nice. It sounds so peacefull, don't you think? It wasn't so nice this morning while we were tring to take down the tent. It poured and poured. We were so drenched that we didn't even fold the tent. We just threw it in the back of the car.
I didn't get in an official workout the last few days. But it did walk a ton and we went canoeing for about 4 hours yesterday, so I guess that counts for something. My diet went straight to hell, but I'll get that back on track tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow. I'm starting to rethink my decision to take a half week off. I should have stayed out the entire week, but it is what it is. That just means I have more days to burn down the road.
Thanks all for stopping in. Hopefully I will soon have something impressive to share with each of you.

Here's the low-down for the past few days. Saturday I jogged about 2.5 miles. It was pure torture. I'm forcing myself to do it, though, because a nerd at work has taken up jogging, and I can't let him beat me at pretty much anything. Truthfully, I live to destroy him at all things. Harsh, I know. But for those of you who know me, you'll get that I'm competitive. We were in a pedometer/step counting contest a few months ago. I drove my family and co-workers nuts trying to beat him on total steps. Ha ha. He went down! (That's as close to an evil face as I can get on here without having to go find something.)
I ran/walked with Cadillac yesterday morning. Just a little over a mile. Nothing major.
Today was p90X - stupid, stupid legs and back. The guy that hosts that video sucks. He could possibly be the most annoying man on earth. There's an option to only do the music without his non-stop talking. But (and there's always a but) I have misplaced the DVD remote so I can't access that option. I can only play the default setting. Note to self: buy a universal remote!
I'm eating okay, but it could be better. I have got to get ahold of my eating. It's been terrible. Right now I'm shooting for not as bad. I've almost made it there.

Aye, aye! I'm surrounded by nerds. I was looking for a specific nerd yesterday. I asked a student who was subbing for his class and his said a guy. I mentioned that I needed more, to which he replied, "Pretty nerdy." I was still clueless.
Yes, I'm surrounded by nerds.
I had the absolute weirdest medical issue yesterday. Around 10 o'clock I started developing severe senstitivity to light. By 1 o'clock I was starting to freak out. It was so major I didn't think I could drive home. I ended up teaching class with all the lights out and while wearing sunglasses. My head hurt, but only slightly. I went home, took some meds and went straight to bed. I had every intention of going for a run last night. Danggit!
I woke up this morning with a bit of a hangover. So no luck on the early morning workout. I don't get off work until 8 tonight, so by the time I get home it will be story session and beddy-bye for the little mister. That's two days in a row without a workout. And I had been doing so well.
There's always tomorrow, I suppose. That is if I survive the nerds.

I ran a bit this morning. Around 2 miles. Then I lunged my hill. That's .1 miles of lunging. Ugh.
I'm heading to the lake this afternoon. It's not a great day for hitting the lake, quite overcast. But Cadillac is excited and I'm happy to get to hang out with my friend, Nancy. She's wild red head that talks about 75 miles a minute. I have to pay very close attention to catch it all. I love her, though. Never a dull moment.
Another friend gave me free passes to a Krav Maga class. I may grab Big Sexy and head over for that. She loves it, but it's too far away for me to go on a regular basis. Occassional Saturdays will be fun, though. If I don't log in tomorrow, it's because she killed me.

Barbie graced my journal. I'm the luckiest girl in the world (world, world, world).
I'm laughing a bit right now. I just scrolled down to the bottom of the page and discovered that the "similar threads" I just might be interested in include: "back pain. . . WTF plz help," and "help my back looks weak." Funny.
I have been swamped this week. Cadillac started Kindgergarten. I've cried a bit, but he's thrilled. He's so smart. He'll love school. At kindgergarten orientation, he asked the teacher if they were going to study chemistry. I think that threw her for a loop.
My diet sucks. I stooped to buying some appetite suppressants. I can not get enough to eat. It's disgusting. I have always had a very healthy appetite, but I've never been a glutton. People, I am verging on glutton lately. It's really disgusting. I just can't seem to stop myself from eating everything. The suppressants help for a few hours, but I'm having trouble making it through the evenings. As a matter of fact, I really want to go fix myself something else right now. Instead, I'm going to put in a P90X yoga DVD.
Have I mentioned how much I hate the P90X guy? He's an ass.
Next Friday is Cad's birthday. He'll be 6, and he thinks he's so incredibly grown up already. It makes me sad. Here's what else makes me sad. I may be losing my job in December. Actually, I'm definitely losing my job in December, but I may have a fall back if everything goes as planned. Otherwise, I'm back in the poorhouse. Dammit. I hate this f***ing economy.
*Sigh*
Anyhoo, what else. Ok, I will admit to doing little this week in the way of exercise. I've done some pushups (my wrist is starting to cooperate), some bodyweight ATG squats and crunches. No big deal. I haven't run at all this week, but I've walked a bit. And I went to the batting cages yesterday with Big Sexy. That made my back surprisingly sore. It was fun, but I was embarrased by how terrible I am.
That's all.
Have a great weekend, all!

I know. He's growing up and it makes me so sad. As for the job, I'm stressing out quite a bit about it, but I have faith that God will take care of me. He's never let me down yet.
Tony Whats-His-Face made me so made this morning with his perfect pushups and no-chair pullups. Damn him to hell.
I, on the other hand, sucked so bad. I can't believe pushups used to be so easy. I've decided to officially say goodbye to my ass. I can't justify trying to support myself, my kid, and my ass on unemployment. Someone (or some thing) has got to go. Since I'd likely get in trouble with social services for letting Cadillac wander off, it's got to be the ass. Goodbye my dear friend. You've served me well.
That's it. More P90X hell set for the morning.

P90X plyometrics. I was about 15 minutes short of completing this session I told myself I needed to stop because I had to get ready for work, but I ended up sitting on my ass for about 15 minutes after I quit. I'm lazy + Hard Work = UGH.
