Why Do People Who Have No Use for Pickup Trucks Drive Them?
Why do people who have absolutely no practical reason to own pickup trucks drive them?
I notice half the time that they can't even handle their vehicles properly, and they often park incompetently.
Can someone explain this phenomenon to me? I notice it's especially prevalent in Texas, but it's all over the Midwest as well.

I just find it funny when those that do drive pick up trucks for no practical reason complain about the gas mileage they get. lol
Same thing with sports / performance cars and mileage.

Not all pickups are V8's...some get pretty good mileage

^ I know some get decent mileage, I'm referring to people that have no need for them buying 5.7L V8's then blatantly bitching about the mileage they are getting, gas costs, etc.

its useful, some may like the look, smaller trucks are economical, most trucks hold value decently, some drive them for that one time year that a family member needs help moving, etc... the list goes on

This. Some people just get them because they have a lot more room. They are completely practical. The only drawback is the gas mileage.
Even this is more practical than a smaller car;

I don't drive one, but I will when I come up with the money. They're bigger (no sh!t, eh?), you can help people move, haul your own sh!t around, save on delivery fees etc. Just so much more practical! I want a two door, small truck, like an S10 or something, just so I have the functionality of a truck, without the bad mileage, and brutal maneuvering.

I lived in Texas for 2 years (Dallas/Ft Worth area). Even in urban areas there, pickup trucks & the people that can't drive them are ubiquitous.

When I move within the same city, I rent a U-Haul.
Congratulations on finally using a word with more than one syllable without spelling it incorrectly, btw. I'm guessing you've memorized it from having read it so often.

I don't know of any 2 seat Civics. How much crap do you buy at the grocery store, that it requires a pickup truck to haul it all?

I've moved approximately 12 times in the past decade (used to move around a lot for work), and I've never used a pickup truck once.
How often do you guys move that you buy a vehicle specifically for that purpose?

BTW, for people who tow stuff, live on ranches, have a legitimate need for hauling lots of large items on a frequent or regular basis, etc.. please read the thread title carefully. It doesn't apply to you.

How tall are you? Almost any reasonably sized passenger car will comfortably accomodate anyone who is not 6'6" +. If you need something larger to feel comfortable in, it's more likely the result of a weight problem.

lol. I see this kind of crap all the time as well. Giant F250s & 350s whose owner will never use even 1/10th of their capability.
The worst offender imo is the Escalade pickup truck.

Because this is a lot easier to do with a truck. OP is just mad because he can't afford the gas to put in a truck. You know you'd have one if you could afford it. You'll never fully understand until you own one.
