I'm in the market for a cheap bench, some bars, and some plates after making the mistake of lending my set to my younger cousin last year. He was a senior in HS and wanted something to use instead of going to the gym, stupidly I lent my entire set to him (it wasn't anything great but more than serviceable). I asked him for it back, his response was that he recycled it. So I need something to replace it.
Basically what I lent him was a bench that I ended up getting at Walmart (A Gold's Gym something), an Olympic barbell, an EZ Curl Bar, and maybe around 150-200 lbs in plates.
I found someone selling a similar setup that's located in my parents hometown and I could simply pick it up. I've never heard of the brand before (Marcy Monster, I believe it's http://www.amazon.com/Marcy-MWB-Mons...7525056&sr=1-2).
That with an Olympic bar, an EZ Curl Bar, the extensions for the bench (leg and preacher) and at least 400 lbs in plates. Used for a few months. What would you consider a fair price? I priced out how much much a similar setup would be new, just wondering what you guys would consider I should look to pay.

Yup. He told me directly that his dad said they didn't have enough space in their basement/garage so they got rid of it. It really made me wonder if they didn't have space for it why they didn't just return it. No surprise here my dad is kinda pissed.
He's 57 years old so he doesn't need anything great but I want to get him enough plates so he can just load them on everything without having to constantly swap out. I already have two gym memberships so I don't really need anything but it'll help having enough equipment for when I go visit them to work out with.

Did you read the Amazon customer's review on that Marcy bench? That looks typical of that brand. If you could get the deal cheap enough, then flip the Marcy and get something decent, that might be o.k. $200 for the whole deal, then turn around and sell the Marcy for $50.
If God had wanted us to be weak, He wouldn't have given us iron.
