First, I love the job you did with your gym you really did a fantastic job! Second, how did you end up handling the heater situation for the winter?

Got an awesome little heater that I mounted to the ceiling. It'll heat the place up just fine, even in the dead of winter. I only run it when I'm using the gym. I turn it on about 30 minutes before a workout or an appointment with a client and I'm good to go.

Nice! For the large mirrors you installed, did you buy glassless or regular glass? Sorry to ask so many questions but I'm thinking about doing something similar.

They are glass mirrors. They are mounted with plastic clear mounts from Home Depot.

Ask away sir, I don't really mind.

Hey man, I don't open up the garage door in the winter time, so its tough to get an 'outside looking in' view right now. I did post up new pics of the separate parts though. When spring hits, I'll post a picture like you're talking about.

Nice Gym! What is the paint brand and color or code of the blue stripe? That is one of the colors that I have been thinking about painting the walls and floor of my gym but I'm having a hard time tracking it down because there are no paint stores in my area. Thanks!

That is actually a vinyl sticker! I got it off of eBay, and it worked awesome.

Vinyl sticker was a good idea. I might add some vinyl graphics down the road. I'm just about done the painting stage. I was trying to get Disney color Infinity And Beyond DC3C-20-4 but couldn't get it mixed so I went with Twilight Blue 2067-30 which is very close. Latex matte finish on the walls and oil based gloss on the floor. One more coat on the floor, followed by white baseboards and then I can start moving in my equipment which is all black frame black upholstery! It'll be the black n' blue room. lol BTW full spectrum lighting made a huge difference because it was looking too dark before the lighting change.

    Definitely BLUE! haha.

I have two 8 foot fluorescent lights on the ceiling, which makes for good lighting. If I didn't have those, it'd just be two light bulbs up towards the squat rack end of the gym.....not good.

A stripe would really be nice on your wall. Probably a light blue would be nice. Going too dark with everything won't make it as inviting. It all depends on who is using it I guess.

Wow, just catching up on this thread, it is amazing how much you have influenced everyone with a home gym. I can not wait until I get my new place next year hahaha..trying really hard to find a place with an extra room for exercise Do you find much benefit with the TRX? Ive used it and found it to be quite challenging, what are the main exercises you do on them?

Ive used it and found it to be quite challenging, what are the main exercises you do on them?
The TRX is great for training clients and ab work for myself. I like it for complex work as well. Youtube TRX and you'll find plenty of exercises!

Since this thread inspired many, I'd like to keep on inspiring with an update of epic proportions, lol.

I've since abandoned my first gym and left the new owner of that home with two tone garage walls

Here is the new setup! I'll stay up to date on any questions that anyone might have about my new gym.

    Thanks for viewing!

What is under your rack? Plywood? What size and type?

    It's a plywood platform. It's about 4'x8' and fairly thick. I think it's about 3/4" thick.

I put a coat of sealer on it too, which makes it a little more shiny and grippy.

Thanks. Another question. Are you not a fan of having the padding under your feet when you squat or workout? Why the plywood?

Most all Olympic lifting platforms have a plywood or even hardwood center. Kind of the same reason that lifting shoes have a firm flat sole and not a squishy padded sole like most running shoes have.

When serious weight training is the goal, a solid stable surface should be used.

Leave the comical bosu ball squatting for the un-informed!

Really nice gym. The ceiling and recessed lights give it a classy feeling.

How do you like your Precor Stretch Partner? I have LifeSpan Stretch Partner and use it extensively. I even moved it to my bedroom. One day I'll upgrade to Precor.

Glad you said that, as I was going for the luxury/comfort look with the ceiling and lighting. Thanks.

It's a nice piece, but I never use it. I'm actually considering selling it! It's like new.
