    Max calorie intake per meal?

I take in about 3750 to 4000 cals a day, but I find with my schedule with army and my other job I literally have no time to sit down and have 5 meals a day, so I end up dividing my calorie intake into about 2 meals a day, plus protein shakes and protein bars.
I just wanted to know if this is countereffective, am I going to be losing a lot of the nutrients and effectiveness because I'm just gorging about 1600 to 1700 calories in one meal, versus doing like an 800 cal meal more often through out the day?

    Cliffs:

Is it fine to just eat two 1600 cal meals a day, plus a protein shake after my workout, and a protein bar when I'm fiending

I don't think the caloric intake matters if it's in one or 10 meals, but your body won't be able to absorb enough proteins in only 3 meals. You could have 3 big meals (1000 cals each, 50g prot) for breakfast, lunch and diner and in between each have like a protein bar or 20 almonds, you'd be at 3500-4000 cals a day with 200+ g of proteins.

i mean why dont u just look at basic diets. You dont see neone eating 1 lb of meat in one sitting, its usually 6-8 oz of meat, which would be somewhere around 40-55 grams of protein in one meal. And protein shakes, i doubt most take more than 50 grams at one time.

LOL couldn't find any could you?

And I've seen people eat 1lb of meat before, and you probably don't see it much, because people around our age, don't need that much protein, therefore they don't eat a lot. But that is not to say that we can only "use up" a small amount of protein.

Yes I believe there is a limit, but I don't think there is enoug research to state where that limit is.

Protein is very difficult to be stored as fat. Regular meals won't do it to you. Slamming 2-3 whey shakes at once probably will. This is because the stomach actually has the ability to STORE excess food until the small intestine has finished absorbing the incoming nutrients. So your body will adjust depending on the volume of the food. Lots of solid food/fiber/fats will act as casein in a way...your body will not waste it

    You made up those numbers.

There's no limit to how much protein you'll absorb. Your body will utilize whatever absorbed amino acids it needs directly, and convert the rest into metabolic intermediates to be used for energy or put towards fat storage.

Our digestive systems are pretty efficient at slowing things down to extract all the nutrients regardless of how big a meal was, so you really won't be crapping too much of anything useful out.

Yay, in comes the saviour. Beat me to it ass hole!

But I would have added that amino acids can be stored for future use as well.
