Can you tell I'm bored at work today?
I think I've made more posts today than I've made in the previous five months combined. I blazed right through my latest assignment, and now I'm sitting here waiting for more software to get done, so I have something to do.

I've had close as I work in cable tv tech support in Canada.
When we had the blackout a few years back, people were phoning in wondering why their tv's won't turn on!!

man I don't envy you your job.
I have a few folks I manage here who do front line phone support on various applications.
I sometimes will fill in or will get something escalated to me.
While I am good with people on the phone I don't enjoy it. I prefer getting my hands into whatever hardware or software issue is at hand.
The worst is people calling in angry, and then refuse to give you any information on their problem but still insist you fix it immediately.

It's really bad when the highlight of the day is having a user call to say there is something wrong with the system's time.
Her: The system's time is off.
Me: What do you mean "off"?
Her: It's 20 minutes behind.
Me: Behind what?
Her: The real time.
Me: Um... when was the last time you did anything and updated your screen?
Her: About 20 minutes ago.
Me: Uh huh, gotcha. Bye.

I had a coworker get a sadistic streak one time and a guy called in with a problem.
My coworker had this guy doing bizarre stuff, like 5 key combos that did nothing the poor kid was like "I cant reach that key, hold on, MOM!!! come help me!" you could hear her come in and he had her press the 5th key "nothing happened!" "oh well I guess we will need to send someone out" LOL it was like a 1 key with f6 shift page down prints screan ctrl combo heh heh
